Chapter Two: And Then it Begins
And so, the rest of my day went by with me panicking and thinking a lot to myself.
I was really dreading going home today when I heard the final bell. You see my mom and “Luke’s” mom are, what most would call, very close friends. So knowing that information my mom has most likely already found out that Sherile and ‘Luke’ are moving back in next door. She has probably got all of our dinner plans for them to come over all set up. I mean his mom is awesome and honestly she helped me a lot with things my mom couldn’t help with due to her busy work schedule. She is like a second mom to me and I am thankful for that but Luke on the other hand, was nothing like her.
I packed my things and headed out of the door and towards my car and waited for Cecelia. I had to wait at least thirty minutes until I finally heard a door open and sighed ‘Finally’, But heard nothing. I turned and to my surprise I seen, the one and only, Luke.
‘WHAT THE FUCK! What are you doing in my car!?’
‘Well, since I moved into my old house again and we get to be neighbors, yay! I decided, with your mom that it would be best if you just gave me a ride home, you know since I don’t have a car and it’s a pretty lengthy walk.’ He tried to smile an innocent sly smile but it didn’t faze me.
‘UGGH, you’re an ass still. I guess old habits die hard. But, fine today only and then I am going to talk to my mom.’
He smiles as if he had just won and we sit in silence and wait for Cecelia to show up. She finally does and gets in the car. I sigh in relief and then drive off in her direction. She managed to blank out that there was another body in the backseat, so when she heard Luke singing quietly along to a song you can imagine the surprise.
I looked over at her confused at first when she gasps then I seen she was looking at him.
‘OHHH, hey Cecelia we are giving Luke a ride home today’ I said a little bit late.
‘Oh well that’s nice to know.’ She said now pretty much gawking at him.
We continue driving and I can scarcely hear but Cecelia and Luke are having a discussion about some new game they both seen. Cecelia looked utterly love struck and Luke looked well like he always does, bored.
“CECELIA!’
She snapped her head up and looked at me like what-the-fuck-is-wrong-with-you. I smiled kindly and motioned out my car window to her house and she looked at me apologetically and smiled said bye and walked into her house. The rest of the car ride was almost silent and would be unless a certain someone didn’t decide that it was necessary to sing along to every song that comes onto the radio.
Finally we pulled up to my house and I see my mom and his sitting on the porch drinking tea and talking up a storm, probably catching up on the last few years.
Luke dashed out of the car and pretty much ran into his house. I got out and walked to my mom and looked at her. ‘Why the hell did you tell him that I would give him a ride home every day?!’ I almost yell. ‘I don’t even like the kid he’s mean, self centered, and cocky!’ I say crossing my arms over my chest.
She looked at me as if I were crazy and then laughs a little under her breathe. ‘I never told him that you would give him a ride, I mean the only thing I have said to him so far really was a quick hi…?’
That fucking dick. He lied to me, I guess I should have seen that one coming from the moment he got into my car like he owned it. If this is how he wants to start out already then fine…two can play at this game.
I woke up the next day more exhausted than ever I stayed up late planning on all the things I wanted to do to him and no I do not mean that in any sort of sexual way this is strictly for revenge and that is what I shall get.
Despite my groggy looking hair and horrid headache I rolled myself out of bed unwillingly and shut off my alarm.
I took a quick shower and then wrapped my towel around me, I applied a thin layer of makeup concealer then some mascara and lip gloss and went to my closet to find an outfit. I settled with some shorts and a shirt with a little infinity sigh in the top corner. I got dressed and then grabbed my bag and headed to the living room.
I grabbed a piece of toast my mom made me and a bottle of orange juice. Ok don’t get me wrong I love to eat but breakfast isn’t my thing. I hugged my mom goodbye and she looked at me skeptically with a why-are-you-in-such-a-good-mood way. I kissed her cheek and headed out the door slipping some sandals on my feet on the way out.
I got into my car and headed to go pick up Cecelia and we drove to school belting out the lyrics to a song by Arianna Grande yet neither of us are a fan but hey that’s not the point.
We arrived and walked in together and then apparently I arrived right on time because the first bell rang meaning school is officially in progress. Worst news ever.
