CHAPTER 1

"Niall, please change the channel! I am sooo tired of this movie," I whined to my bestfriend. We were watching Grease for the fourth time this weekend.

"No Val, wait! This is the good part!"

"You think every part is the good part!" I laughed.

Niall and I had been friends for around 11 years, with me being 16 and him being 18. We first met in grade school when I was 5. I was being pushed around by some other kids. Niall always told me they messed with me because they liked me.

One day when I was sitting on a bench by the the playground the leader of their little group approached me and took my lunch. He said "You don't need this! You're fat enough already!"

I immediately burst into tears. They had hit me where it hurt. My size has always been an insecurity of mine.

As if on cue, Niall walked up and punched the leader hard in his right eye. He fell to the ground and Niall got in huge trouble. To this day, he still feels like he did the right thing.

Mine and Niall's relationship had gotten a bit more difficult lately with him being on tour all the time with his band One Direction. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the boy's and so proud of them, but I can't help but wish the band hadn't gotten as big as it did. I see Niall once a month now because he is constantly on tour and lives in London. I still live in Mullinger, Ireland with my mum and dad.

Sometimes I worry that Niall will just completely forget about me. I always miss him so much, but he seems so happy. I'm not going to lie, the idea of losing my best friend of over a decade scares me.

"Hey Val, can I ask you something?" Niall asked without moving his eyes from the television.

"Of course Nialler!" I said in a baby voice as I snuggled into his arms. His hugs were the most comforting things in the world.

"Well, I was wondering if you would ever possibly consider moving to London? I know it's a lot to ask, but you're ahead with school, so now you only have about two months of high school left! You could move to London and live with me and attend college there..."

Niall went on and on about how great the colleges were in London, while I just thought about how amazing it would be just to live with Niall! Even if it was only temporary while I found a place of my own, it would be so nice to spend time with my best friend without having a time limit of how many days we are together.

" ...and they have-"

"Niall!" I shouted.

"Yeah?"

"I would love to!"

With that, he gave me a huge grin and picked me up off the couch and spun me around.

"Niall stop!" I giggled. "I hate getting dizzy, and you know that!"

"You love it really," he responded with a cheesy wink.

"Totally!" I said back sarcastically.

"Don't use that tone with me Valeria!"

"I'll do what I want," I responded in the brattiest voice I could manage.

Just then, Niall picked me up off my feet, and ran me into the kitchen.

"Alright Little Miss Attitude! Now you are going to pay!" Niall said in an evil voice.

"No! Please spare me!" I cried as he sat me on the counter.

"Nope!" He responded quickly while looking through my fridge and pantry at the same time. In no time at all, he returned with a box of ritz crackers, a Hershey's bar, a box of rice, frozen peas, orange juice, and a blender.

"W-what are you doing with those?" I asked in a terrified voice.

"Making you the most DISGUSTING thing you will ever drink in your entire life."

Quickly, Niall poured half the bag of frozen peas in the blender along with about a dozen ritz crackers, and all the other ingredients. He turned the blender on high and mixed it all together. I thought I was going to vomit just looking at it.

He poured it into two cups; he handed one to me, and kept one for himself.

"Ready?" He said with his crooked grin.

"No!" I yelled.

"Oh come on Val! Drink it like a man!"

"Shut up," I said and stuck out my tongue.

"Count of three... One, two,..."

"THREE!" We both exclaimed. The two of us drank a couple of gulps.

"Ya know, it really isn't that bad." Niall said as he finish off his drink. I laughed as I watched him move onto mine and finish it.

"I can't wait until you move London," he said to me with a smile. I just leaned forward a gently pecked him on the cheek. This was something I always do to Niall, but this time, it almost looked like he blushed. I didn't say anything for the sake of not making things awkward, but his reaction was strange.

Instantaneously, I started to question whether I was still 'just his friend'. I mean, he spends most of his vacation time with me, and the time he does spend with his family and other friends, he drags me along. Could our relationship be changing?
