"Give me your miraculous ladybug!" Chat screamed, and ladybug felt the tears sting behind her eyes. She could see how much pain he was in. Nobody telling him what to do, all alone in his thoughts. She wondered how long he had been alone on the building before Bunnyx showed up and threw her to him.
He knew her name. That scared her the most. How did he know? She would never have told him, so she must've been found out somehow. It made her wonder if Hawkmoth knew who she was.
Well, Hawkmoth didn't matter anymore now either.
Her thoughts ran rampant as she stepped towards him. Her heart beat like she ran a marathon, and the tears flowed down her eyes. He gave her a soft look, and she stared back at him. If he knew her, then that meant she must know him too. That they were closer than ever before. Or maybe that was why he was akumatized? Because even though she knew who he was, she didn't accept him. But the way he talked, this was all a big puzzle.
"Chat Noir, please don't do this." she whispered, reaching her hand forward to grab his.
"I am not Chat Noir, I am Chat Blanc." he said, taking her hand gently. He stared at her hard, and she found it hard to meet his gaze.
"Hawkmoth isn't in your head, so what are you trying to do?" She asked, lip quivering. Her thoughts weren't stringing together like they used to. She hated this feeling. Maybe if she gave him her miraculous, she wouldn't feel so useless anymore. Her tears dried and stained her face. She just wanted to hold him. She wanted to hold him and soothe him and talk with him.
"Our miraculous' can fix everything. All the damage our love caused." He pulled her a little closer so she had to look up at him.
"Let me fix my mess." He whispered, and a tear slipped out his eye. That broke Marinette's heart the most. She wanted to help him, she wanted to fix this mess that Hawkmoth caused, but she didn't know how.
"You know that it will come with a great sacrifice Chat Noir." She was buying time, she needed to solve the puzzle. She needed to hold on to these moments. She needed to hug him. She needed to go home and make pastries. She needed so many things that she just couldn't find a way to do.
"Sacrifice? Marinette, everything's gone already. There would be nothing else to sacrifice!" He laughed loudly, but stopped when she cried harder.
"Then take them!" she shouted, letting go of his hand "Take them Chat! Go ahead, I know you're not a monster, so go ahead and prove Hawkmoth right!" She just hoped that Bunnyx would pop out of nowhere and pull her back into the orb.
"I can't prove anything to him anymore. He's gone." His face fell when he said it, and Ladybug felt the urge to hold him again. So this time, she did.
"Take them." she whispered. She hugged him around his waist, and he hugged her back. He didn't take her earrings.
"Take them Chat, fix this mess. You're right, there's nothing else to take, so fix it." She really wanted to fall over, her head was spinning and she was dizzy, but he still didn't move.
"Chat..." she muttered and he pulled her into a hug, holding her tightly. Her breath escaped her body and he moved his hands slowly up to her ears.
"I'm sorry m'lady." he whispered, and ripped the earrings from her ears. Marinette de-transformed and stared at him with sadness in her eyes. She wished to hold him again, because now she was incredibly cold.
"I can't." he whispered, and then grabbed her hand quickly. He opened her palm and dropped the jewels, closed her hand and let go.
"Chat, what are you doing?" She asked, grabbing his hand. He took off his Chat Noir ring, and it returned to its black colour. Chat Blanc remained the same.
"Do it, Marinette." he said, staring past her and to the wide flat expanse behind her.
"Make your wish."
Marinette turned around, walked to the edge of the building, and stared off into the distance. Master Fu, oh how she wished he was here. She thought of what she could wish for, what she should wish for. The great white expanse was dangerously beautiful, and she tiptoed to the edge every time she blinked.
"Marinette what are you- NO!" he ran towards her falling body, and he jumped after her.
Marinette stepped off the edge, and hugged the jewels to her body, and while the wind took over her ears, Chat Blanc wrapped himself around her, hugging her tightly.
The wind was raging through her ears, but she couldn't mistake the sound of his voice when he yelled "I love you"
"They crashed to the ground in each others arms, and nobody knows the rest of the story." the little girl she was telling the story to was already asleep, and May decided that it was time to take her leave. It's been 15 years, and Paris was still a quarantined area. She closed the little girls door, and stepped into the living room.
"Aaron, I don't think she's old enough for the story yet." she whispered and hugged her husband.
"No need to speak in code Mari, everyone's asleep." he pulled a strand of hair behind her ear,"Mari, she's only 9, give her time." Adrien held her softly.
"Let's go to bed." Adrien kisses her forehead, and lead her to their little apartment bedroom in London, only to stare at the very jewels that brought them together, sitting on their desk.
