Another World For Zernain

My Journey

Hey Everyone, AsSalamuAlaikum. How are you all?

I am really loving the initiative done by AmbassadorsIN on Instagram to celebrate Indian authors of Wattpad and that really pushed me to write something about my journey on Wattpad.

My journey started on Wattpad in near 2014 when I was in my third year of Engineering. When you look back you just see a hazy blur and you can't point out how that all happened. So let's just go a little back how this Engineering girl started writing.

The girl Zeba Ali is sitting on one of the benches of hospital where her mother has been admitted due to minor paralysis. She can feel her mind tired with all that's going around; her mind feels full with fear, sadness, confusion but with all of these emotions there's one story in her head which she wants to write badly.

Didn't know how she get the urge to write something, maybe the consequences of reading too many novels. Having no companion at all in the lonely hospital as her father is busy with his office works and mother's health while her brother is busy with his studies, Zeba decides to start writing the first chapter of her novel.

Having no pen or paper at hand with her at the moment, Zeba starts writing the chapter in the notes of her mobile phone. She writes the prologue and that is a moment of epiphany for her, not a single thing in the world gave her that much excitement as writing those few words did.

Zeba tells her few cousins about the new thing she has started, writing and when they insist on reading it, she sends them the chapters as a Whatsapp message. She finishes her chores, gives her time to family and studies but somewhere inside her head, she is already writing the next chapter. Her cousins feel that it is a good story and should be published somewhere.

That's what it was. I had no idea about something like Wattpad until one day I was searching for something to read online and found Wattpad on my Google page. I came on Wattpad as a reader but became a Writer.

I read few of the stories here especially A Muslim Love Story which gave me guts that people like to read about Muslims, their love stories, their lives. So I decided to publish my first story on Wattpad named as You made me believe in Love.

I had only three followers/readers, two of my cousins and one reader by the time I finished posting the whole story. But I was happy, I was doing something which was really making me happy and if you're a writer you will agree with me, when you start writing, you automatically get more ideas.

That's why I started my another story With You. I loved everything about writing especially the research part and it's the rule of nature, when you love what you do, people fall in love with your work. That's what happened with me. I began to get appreciation not just for my second novel but for my first one too.

I was and am an introvert girl who was trying to find the purpose of her life in an Engineering college because she couldn't fit in. But Wattpad changed everything for me, it created a world for the writer in me, Zernain. It showed the part which was hidden from me.

I met so many new people from various countries and I couldn't even think in my wildest imagination that people from UK, US, Greece, Pakistan would not only read my stories but also would love them, this is the magic of Wattpad.

Wattpad came as a saviour in my life in the midst of all the chaos. I was struggling with studies, little bit depression here and there, family problems, my mother's health and writing gave me a little escape door from all my problems. It made me fall in love with writing, it showed me how could I get my own voice. It gave me a way to heal others like me with my words of hope.

If it wasn't for Wattpad, I wouldn't get the guts to go ahead and publish my first novel in Paperback, Beyond Our Melancholy and Finding Solace in You and Surrounded as ebooks.

Wattpad really built an another world for Zernain. ❤
