Hi, my name is Alex. I am 16 years old and I lived with my parents in Kansas. Their names are Julie Andrews and Brett Davison.
I met a person called Jamie online around five years ago, we'd been talking non – stop. We had the same interests and just generally got along with each other so well. After a few conversations we realised that we didn't live too far from each other. Only a town across. So, we decided to finally meet each other. Luckily, I had just gotten my driver's license so I told her that I'd meet up with her. Alone.
That was my first mistake.
As I was edging closer to her house, I had to drive down an empty road. At the time, it was snowing, so even though there weren't any buildings in sight, it looked like a painting, very calming. Picturesque.
I drove my dad's black Range Rover through the snowy road, contrasting each other by their shades. The crystal snow laced the electricity cables as well as the pavement on the roads. The then greeny – orange leaves slowly transforms white as the snow delicately lays upon them, like a blanket. The road had tyre marks from when other cars had driven on the concrete, the trees reached the sky as the leaves started to descend with the snowflakes.
I rolled down my car window so I could enjoy the snow. I could hear the snow crunching beneath my car as I drove upon it, my nose being nipped by the cold as I slowly breathed in to feel the frozen air in my lungs, slightly stinging them.
My car snapped me out of my euphoric daydream of meeting Jamie as it told me that I had reached my destination, Jamie had given me her postcode. It should be in my cars system, where I am and where I lived that is. When I had reached my destination though, what was in front of me was an abandoned house.
The abandoned house stood in a composed way, as if it had chosen solitude for itself. The walls stood firm, the window frames strong, glass triple glazed and whole. All in all, it looked like a movie-set, a place waiting for life to come. The only give-away was the odour, well, that and the dust. It looked musty and dry, what used to be white paint turned brown with age as the metal gate in front of the door turned orange as it rusted. I thought it was strange for Jamie to choose this place as our first meeting, but didn't judge her. I just waited for her on the old, now damp, green steps, at the front of the house leading to the old porch.
That was my second mistake.
As is sat there waiting for my friend, I checked my phones battery. I was still on 30%, so I decided to text her.
"Where r u J?"
I asked as she responded to me.
"Nearly there! Just wait a few more mins 😉"
A small smile appeared upon my face after I read her message, she loved sending emojis. More than most people do."Kk. BTW, y would u chose this creepy ass place for us 2 meet???"
I asked with genuine curiosity, she responds to me quite quickly.
"It's my hangout! What? Don't u like it ☹☹"
I giggled and told her to hurry up. I started to get bored and my legs had started to go numb form just sitting around. So, I decided to explore. I tried to open the rusty gate but it was locked shut, so I decided to walk around the house instead.
