The smell of pastery filled my nose as I walked into the bakery. A plump woman sat behind a glass case full of them.

"Ah good morning Miss Alexa" she smile. "Good morning Mrs. Hisselpenny" I walked over to the glass and looked. Mrs Hisselpenny looked at me.

"Would you like some? We have plenty in the back" To be truthful I wanted to bake my own, but it was frowned apon as a lady. I nodded and watched as she picked out lemon, orange, and blueberry cakes. After she had finshed the glass slid shut. I handed her the money and left. The streets of London were crowed and getting around people proved to be inpossable. People shoved past and thunder cracked in the distance. Great mum would kill me if I got left out in a storm. I was looking around for my carriage when someone ran into me. People gasped when the person stood.

"Is that how you treat your prince" the man said. Prince Zander stood in front of me. As quick as I could I bowed, hair making a thin curtain in front of my face.

"I'm sorry please forgive me" a scoff echoed and made me flinch.

"Just watch it next time" he addressed the crowd "and don't stare its in proper" with that he walked away leaving the street and people in a swirl of confusion.

I arrived home an hour later. It had taken a while to find my carriage thanks to dear old Zander. I was wet, beads of water fell off my dress and onto the ground. Maids zipped around not daring to look at me as I walked up the steps.

"Alexa where have you been?" my mother walked out "and why are you all wet? Never mind that to the sitting room with you the girls are going to be picked" I let out an annoyed huff as my mother pushed me along. The girls to be picked were for Prince Zander to chose a queen from. They would spend a month in the place and go out with him to win him over. I wanted no part in this at all. My father sat on the sofa with the small t.v in front of him.

I took a seat as the speaker stepped to the mic. She had long raven black hair and a fake smile. In her hand was an aged envelope.

"Ladies and gentlemen today is the day 500 teenage girls have been waiting for. Without delay lets jump in" she pulled out the first name "Mare Baker age 17" a picture of a girl showed on the screen. She was smiling and her honey brown hair fell in perfect waves down her back. The next name was called "Lucy Sanders age 16" Mare was replaced with the picture of a red head a year younger than the prince. Her face was covered in freckles and her teeth were large. "Nova Spats age 18" the next girl had golden hair and bright blue eyes. Her face was calm and her smile was flawless." Selena Porter age 15" this time the girls face was sun worn. Her eyes were dull and a huge scar slashed across her face. "And last Alexa Barrows age 17" my name was called and a picture of me in the bakery showed on the t.v. I sat in surprise. Never in all my life had I wanted to take part in such a thing. I rubbed my eyes and looked. My face stayed smiling as I leaned over the counter. My surprise soon turned to anger.

"Who put my name in?!" I yelled and my parents froze.
