**** Drina and Lilli looked out the large window of the main house. The storm had turned into an all out blizzard, only making things worse. It was after ten o'clock, and Beau still hadn't radioed in. If he'd made it to the emergency cabin he would've done so. It was standard operating procedure.
"Maybe, he made it to the cabin?" Drina said worriedly.
Lilli shook her head, "No, dear. If he had, he'd have checked in as soon as he entered the building. That is a steadfast rule that Brett and Yancy made when the boys, Bobbi and Trisha were kids. Everyone abides by it because it saves manpower, stress, and lives."
She rubbed her arms and shivered. "My boy is out there, in that." Tears filled her eyes as Yancy squeezed her shoulders.
"We'll be sending a search party out as soon as the storm passes. He'll be alright, Lil. He's a tough boy. Beau's a Ranger, and he's his father's son."
She nodded and wiped her tears away as she prayed for her son's safe return. "I've already lost one son, I don't know if I could survive the loss of another."
Drina shook her head and made her way to the den. There was a huge, detailed map on the wall behind the mahogany desk. It was a custom made 3-D map of the ranch, and she'd admired it often.
Drina had listened closely when Rowdy, Yancy and Sherlock spoke of the lone cabin Beau would go to and ride out the storm. She thought she knew how to get to the cabin despite the weather.
Drina knew something was wrong or Beau would have called in by now unless he was unable to do so. Deep in her heart, in her very soul, she knew Beau was in trouble. Something kept telling hert she had find him. That she could find him.
She knew because God had told her to go to him. She prayed for strength, guidance, wisdom and courage. After all, she was a singer, a song writer and performer. What if she misunderstood God's message? She could get them both killed. But no. She was sure The Lord would see them both through it.
She excused herself, and shut herself in the den. The various areas of the map were shown with a number and letter designation. They kept it up to date regarding the location of the lone cabins and corrals, how they were accessible and recognized landmarks. She had made note of Beau's last known location, and that of the emergency cabin he would seek out for shelter from the storm.
Drina took a close up picture of the area with her cell phone. She was going after him. After praying for his safety she was sure the Lord was telling her to go to him.
She entered the mud room just as Kassi passed by the door and noticed the songbird donning her coat and checking out a survival kit.
"Drina, what are you doing?" The teenager asked with a look of concern.
"I'm going to find Beau. I can't sit here doing nothing. He's out there and I plan on finding him."
Kassi shook her head, ebony curls bouncing around her face. "You can't go out in that! You could end up lost or worse. That would make the situation worse than it already is. What about Kyle and Kaylee?"
