The Reason Is You

Chapter 9

Olivia woke up early the next morning and started packing all of her things. Her flight wasn't until 5 p.m., meaning she should be at the airport by at least 3 p.m. Even though she still had time, Olivia wanted to make sure all of her things were put together so that she could spend the rest of her day with her friends.

Just as she was closing up her suitcase, Lisa barged into her room.

"Great, you're awake!" Lisa shouted. "She's awake guys!"

All of a sudden Gabe and Josh came running into the room and the two boys and Lisa all jumped on Olivia causing her to fall onto the bed.

"Don't go!!!" the three all screamed as they hugged Olivia.

"Guys... Can't... Breathe..."

Everyone got off of Olivia, and she just smiled at her friends. She wished that she could stay and continue her life with these three people who meant the world to her, but Olivia had to remind herself that she had her own life in Sacramento, and it was time for her to go back to her reality.

"So why are you all up so early?" Olivia asked. "I would've thought you'd all be dead as logs this morning 'cause of last night."

"I dragged them both out of bed," Lisa declared.

"It's true," Josh concurred. "I was sleeping on the couch and suddenly she came into the apartment screaming 'wake up y'all! We don't want history repeating itself again!'"

"What do you mean 'history repeating itself'?" Olivia asked curiously.

"You'll see...!" Gabe spoke. "Are your things all packed? Actually, should I really be asking that?"

"I know, Gabe. This is Liv we're talking about. Of course, she's packed," Lisa teased.

"Yes, okay. I am packed. Geez you two, quit talking about me like I'm not here."

"Liv, anything else that you need to pack or put away?" Josh asked.

Olivia looked at her things. Her carry-on luggage was on the floor, closed and ready, and her tote bag with her personal belongings and laptop were on the bed next to her. "Nope, I'm good."

"Are you sure..." Gabe interrupted, making strange movements with his head.

"Are you okay Gabe? You're twitching," Olivia noticed.

"Oh my gosh, Liv!" Lisa interrupted.

"What?!" Olivia gasped.

Josh cleared his throat and discretely pointed to what seemed to be a present of some sort on the nightstand.

"Is that for me?" Olivia asked.

Lisa got up and picked up the package and brought it to her and placed it on her lap. "Duh!"

"Lisa, chill!" Gabe reprimanded his sister.

"What is it?" Olivia looked curiously.

"Open it!" Gabe said excitedly.

Olivia looked at the present on her lap. It was wrapped in brown paper with a simple black ribbon tied around it.

"Lisa wrapped this, didn't she?" Olivia asked.

"Obviously. These two didn't even know where to buy wrapping paper," Lisa revealed.

Olivia laughed. She tugged on the ribbon unraveling it and slowly started to rip through the paper starting from the corner. She uncovered a white box inside and lifted the lid open revealing what seemed to be a CD case.

"A CD?" Olivia asked as she lifted the case out of the box.

"Mhm," Gabe answered. "Josh put it together."
