Carter POV

"i'll pick you up and take you to the training room first thing tomorrow morning at 6 sharp , don't forget to change the bandage" Theo said to me after he introduced me to my new room .

the room was spacy but , not that big , a normal size room for one queen bed in the middle with a night stand and a cupboard , the vibe is grey-ish and feels clean and simple also a shower at the end of the room . 

my eyes are still a bit teary , and i know i'm gonna have a break down right after my room is closed,

"Theo , were you the one who brought me here after that incident in the dorm?" i ask him out of curiosity 

"yeah , i got assigned to keep my tracks on you by Robert ,  you know just incase something like that event in your dorm happened"  he said 

"here , Robert told me to give this to you" he said as he took a brown paper map / file to me ,

"anything you need to know about your real mother and your past life before we had your memory erased is there " he said as he handed the file and i looked at it in my hand starting to study it 

after a while of us standing , me in front of my room and Theo on my door his back towards the hallway , and i just fixed my gaze towards the map i'm holding

"okay , i'm gonna leave you to it now .. i'll see you tomorrow"  he said as i nodded for him to leave and close the door as he goes and disappear to the long hallways .

i opened the file up and sat on the bed , a polaroid picture of me and my real mum came out of the file , and who's my real father ? was it just me and my mum the whole time? i studied it , turns out my mother was an agent too here , she was powerful , and a video tape and a handicap with it , i insert the tape to the camera and start playing it , it was my mother and i , i was still a baby and she was carrying me around the house , smiling and there was me , she was wearing  this necklace a gold pendant with deep green jade rock in the middle of it , the one i'm always wearing since i can remember , she must've given it to me when we separated .

I studied everything about her , mostly because i don' t want to think about anything else , now that it got me thinking , a warm tear roll down my cheeks.

Although Jim and Angie are not my real parents , they still took care of me , loved me like any parents would , and i miss them .. I lost them , i would me Angie's smile every morning and her calming words , and Jim lame dad jokes and his antics , and Ethel , they haven't found a body yet ..she could be alive .. I hope .
I really hope so ,
I got a feeling in my bone that she's still out there .

i tossed and turned on my bed , can't even put my mind to rest , so i went out of my room and just take a walk , my mind are full of concerning thoughts of Ethel , i hope she is safe and we'll soon be together .

i tied my hair in ponytail and wander about the place , until i found a balcony that faced what i assume the training arena . it's 3.a.m in the morning .. it's quiet , most of the people are probably asleep except the guards ,

"can't sleep?" a voice shook me from my deep thoughts revealing Ara , she sat next to me

"i can't too , i mean on my first days .. but ,now , i'm alright and you'll be too"  she said smiling warmly towards me

"how'd you get here?" i asked her

"the stairs, and my room is just right down the hall" she laughed

i smiled "no , not that , i meant "how'd you get here? like how'd you end up in this place?" i asked her 

"i was taken here far back when i was 17 , i have a gift much like you .. my gift are remembering too much too detailed , too smart maybe hahaha , i graduated and become a doctor when i was 16 .. apparently i was in danger because of those gifts , my parents were murdered ,and i got picked up to here , a safe house for people like us" she explained

"i guess we're all orphan here" i said looking away

"yeah , most of us are .. there's a price we pay for the power we never asked for" Ara said 

"do you go to training tomorrow?" i asked her

"my days of training are over dear (she laughed) , i'm assigned to medic and lab , from the power you have , you'll probably be on our defense and research team like Theo " she smiles and continues

"we should go back and have a closed eye , you'll have a long day tomorrow , don't wanna fall asleep on your first day of training" she laughed it off as she motions me to get up and go back to my room and i followed .

"Gray , you'll be alright . trust me" she said before she got in her room and i nodded in return 

talking to Ara , is so relatable , it's like she understands me and i feel a bit more calm as i fall into a short sleep.
