"What is going on!" Joey cried. Mai gripped his arm to keep him for doing anything foolish. The wolf turned to Seto and growled, "Is it broken or something?"

Seto didn't answer him or even acknowledge that he heard Joey's voice. He waved a hand over the black stone and cloudy grey smoke rippled under the glassy surface. He then glance over at the King. The King's eyes were focused on the glass with a look of mixed concern. Not liking that he was being ignored Joey cried out again.

"Why can't we see Persona? Is she in danger?"

"No Joey."

The wolf jumped and turned to Yugi. The water sprite's face held a calmer expression then the demon next to him. "I didn't know why the glass isn't working but I can feel her."

Joey was about to speak when Yami cut him off asking, "Can you see anything?"

Yugi's eyes darted to peer at him them focus back to the front. "Yes, it's blurry but I can see where we-she is going." 

"Can you hear her?"

"Yes." Yugi sighed as the hands at his side curled into fist. "This is the real reason you wanted my shadow to join yours. You were worried that being connected with the maze would interfere with your shadow."

"I had a feeling." Yami shrugged.

Yugi's face redden and Yami took a deep breath and said, "You better pace yourself with the insults little sprite."

"You asshole!" Yugi growled, "I didn't need to bond apart of my soul with yours! You were just afraid of my shadow being in there alone with her! You Perv-"

Yugi stopped and seem to fixed his eyes on something in front of him. Yami took Yugi's hand and fought to hold onto it as Yugi tried to take it back but then stop. The two of them focused on the same spot for a minute.

"Cousin?" Seto said in a low voice.

Yami didn't answer right away. Though his shadow was with his mate, Yami could not see whatever it was Yugi saw. All he could do was feel their emotions. Not even his link with Persona helped him. The demon let go of Yugi's hand and turned to his cousin saying, "Get rid of the glass, it's useless. Have the servants bring a tent, comfortable chairs, and food and drink."

"But," Joey started, "what about Persona?"

The king sighed heavy. He would have to help Yugi get in control of his half the shadow and maybe, just maybe he could use Yami to get in control of his half. If not, Yami will be forced to do something he really didn't want to do.

"The sprite is with her. I'll see what I can do to help, but we need to be alone."

Joey looked ready to argue but Mai put a hand on his arm again, but stood up saying to the wolf, "Let's go. There was something you wanted to do with the wolf patrol, remember?"

Joey stared at Mai then over at his friend who stood still staring off at the maze. If Yugi was Yami's only connection to Persona then surely he was safe. The wolf hoped so as he followed Seto out of the garden with Mai holding his arm.

"It's just like when I first entered the maze at the hotel." I said to the shadow laying over my shoulder as I gazed at the solid wall that closed behind me. There was no tuning back now. The shadow creature blinked at me then turned it's head back to the path I was following. I turned too and felt my stomach drop in fear. The straight path that I was forced to follow was gone and in place of it was a crossroads of five different paths all looking the same. I had just started and already I was lost.
