K'Ari POV

I don't know where Liyah went. I looked around the apartment before I left and no signs of her. If I made her mad, I was just going to let her be.

"Hi, how are you doing? I'm wondering if you're hiring?"

"I'm sorry, we're actually not. I know that Applebee's is hiring down on Jackson."

"Thank you!"

That was my fourth place and so far, nothing. Why is looking for a job this fucking hard?

"Man, stripping doesn't sound too bad, right now," I laugh to myself. I was lying, but at this rate, it was an option — way in the back of my mind though.

Applebee's? I'm tired of working at restaurants, honestly.

"Watch your step!"

Damn! I stepped right in some dog shit.

"I'm sorry, I tried to stop you before you stepped in it .." The older man was talking to me, but I was too busy scraping my shoe on the curb to be listening.

I need to go home. I probably stepped in the shit because of the way I treated Liyah this morning. I sit on a bench at a bus stop to wait on my Uber.

It was going on one o'clock and hopefully, Liyah was home, I need a drink .. or two.

I walk into the apartment to the music playing. "Liyah?" I call out.

"In the bathroom."

I walk into the bathroom and see at least seven bags. "Somebody went out and enjoyed spending money," I smile sitting on the counter.

She looks at me and grins, bending over then tossing me a bag, "you're welcome," she smiles.

"Liyah, I'm sorry for how I talked to you this morning .. "

"Your apology will be accepted if you try on what's in that damn bag," she says now taking off one shirt and putting on another.

"I'm serious. You know how I get when I'm in those moods and for what you're doing for me, I most definitely could've chosen a different tone — and words."

"Exactly, I know how you are, that's why I left. Now come on, shit."

Smiling, I get up to hug her and then start going through the bag. "Speaking of shit, I stepped in some."

"I knew you smelled a little off," she closes her nose.

Cocking my head to the side with a smile, "stop playing with me."

She starts laughing and opens a shoebox, "I was indecisive, so I bought both." Holding up one of each shoe, I point to the red heels. "Good choice."
