Raven’s P.O.V

When I imagined going to school in New York, I imagined Brooklyn’s Most Wanted, with scary looking fences, and people dressed in jumpsuits.

Of course, I didn’t really think that was the case, but a girl’s gotta have some imagination to get through life.

Anyways, I figured I was going to a public school, going to be as normal as I can be. Despite the expectations I had, it didn’t take a genius to figure out what kind of school we had just stepped into.

A private school.

In New York.

On the upper east side.

I could already feel my stomach turn upside down as I thought about all the episodes of Gossip Girl I watched. It was entertaining, but three of the things I hated most in that series were the lies, drama, and scandal.

Oh boy, I am totally going to enjoy this year.

“Shouldn’t we have uniforms?” I asked cautiously. Quite frankly, all I could think about was the crowd of students whispering at the appearance of us.

Before Blaze could answer me, a woman with short, grey hair strutted towards us. Her narrow face, and sense of confidence, made me suspect that she was the headmistress of this school.

“Ah! The Kingmans, I am so pleased to meet you!” she exclaimed, her voice laced with profession.

I should’ve known Maria would’ve given us fake last names. “I’m Blaze, and this is Raven,” Blaze introduced, a dazzling smile on his face.

In return, the lady shook his hand delicately. “I am Headmistress Constance, it is my pleasure to have such wonderful students at my school!”

“Wonderful?” I mouthed to Blaze, a question mark gracing my face.

“Oh yes, I have heard all about your summer internships at Wall Street Journal, Raven. That is an accomplishment not many students get the opportunity. And Blaze, I applaud your work in the philanthropic societies you’ve volunteered to help with,” she blabbered.

I just nodded along, tied with a smile. Obviously, Maria had bent some information to get us here in this school, and why was the question that I was so not going to get into.

“Well, I have a special student I’d like to bring to your attention. She’ll be helping you with your schedule, Raven. As for you Blaze, my son will be getting your attention for the day,” Constance finally finished, waving at two students a few yards back.

“Well, sister, looks like we have to depart for the rest of the day,” Blaze murmured, giving me a smirk.

I scowled. “I am NOT your sister, so get that dirty fantasy out of your head. And we’re bound to share a class.”

He just rolled his eyes and I turned back to see Constance with two students that looked like polar opposites. The girl looked sweet and kind whereas the guy looked...exactly like Blaze.

At least, when I first met him that is.

He had blonde hair that ran across his forehead, and dark blue eyes. A look of boredom crossed his face as he scanned Blaze up and down. Then, his eyes flickered to me. He smirked, and I could feel Blaze tense up beside me.

Hell, they even stood at the same height. It was like Blaze was standing before me, but with blonde hair, and as his evil former self.

“Alex here will show you around,” she pointed out to Blaze, patting Alex on his back a little.
