Hokey was sitting at the bar off to the side of the kitchen, right next to the little window she liked to sit by. It was sprinkling rain out, but the sun was blotted out due to overcast skies. It almost looked hazy outside. She was coloring in a coloring book she had just gotten for her birthday. She was deciding on which color to make the sky— blue or grey. She reached randomly in the large case of crayons she had on the side. A purple sunset would do nicely.
Sesame stood by the oven making tomato soup. The days were getting colder and today was one of the days where it was just right for something warm. He added a few spices and a hint of garlic along with a dash of salt. The smell tickled his nose, and he almost sneezed while adding the pepper in. He caught it, thankfully, which is more than you could say for his glasses which fell in another pot he had on the stove. A whiff of chicken noodle soup filled the air as Sesame was fishing out his glasses.
Hokey giggled and got off the stool to help Sesame. He finally fished them out and handed them to her. She quickly got a rag from the cupboard over and began to wipe them clean from the big pieces. He walked over to the faucet and turned it on. The water ran cool and clear, though it had a hint of egg to it— had to get the water checked again. Hokey looked up to Sesame with bright, green eyes as she handed him the sticky glasses.
Sesame looked back down at the freckled face girl and cracked a smile as he cleaned off his glasses. After he cleaned them off, he patted a hand dry and ruffled her hair. It looked less like carrots this time around and more like a burnt sienna. Probably cause of the humidity from the rain. A cold wave of air tickled Sesame's nose, making his nose and moustache twitch. Hokey giggled at both as she walked over to get bowls for herself and her caretaker.
Sesame took the bowls and filled them up to the brim with each soup respectively. He handed Hokey the bowl of tomato soup and the two walked over the bar— Sesame's long legs striding more than the young child's feet. He placed his soup farthest from the window and took up the other bowl from her. He paused and grinned back at Hokey. He took the bowl near his lips and pretended to drink the whole bowl, to which Hokey huffed and folded her arms. His green and blue calico eyes squinted as he held his lips closed and his mouth full of air. Hokey began tapping her foot impatiently.
Sesame chuckled and placed the bowl near the coloring book. He picked her up and gently placed her down back on her stool. He waved at a chair and it came dashing towards him.
"Ahah!" Hokey laughed victoriously, "You lost the no magic game!"
Sesame paused and his ears twitched. Then a smirk grew on his face, "And you lost the no talking rule."
Hokey paused and her happy expression turned to a happy pout, "I still won first."
"So you did, so you did."
