Emily's POV
Moving to a new town was not my idea nor what I thought I would be doing. But where my family goes I follow. Los Angeles while I admit it's beautiful but I prefer a smaller city where I don't have to drive somewhere 30 minutes before im supposed to be there. I didn't want to move and I still don't want to be here. You may ask how im 20 but my parents are only 48. To sum it up im adopted, They adopted me when they got married, when I was 9. I've grown close to them and feel like I finally fit in a family setting. I've done my best to stay away from anything surrounding my Dad's job but now my mom is busy taking my siblings to various activities and I'm stuck bringing him the binder he left at home. I put on a cropped sweatshirt and black athletic leggings with my white Nikes and my blonde hair wrapped in a messy bun.
I got to the lakers complex and parked my car in one of my dad's 3 personal spaces upfront. Fixing my hair in the mirror then grabbing his binder I got out of my jeep closing the door. The parking lot looked pretty empty so I was hoping practice wasn't going on at this time. I followed the signs to my dad's office but noticed he wasn't there. So I walked down a couple more hallways onto the basketball court seeing a couple of players shooting around. I found my dad sitting on a chair looking at his computer. I recognized the players Anthony Davis, Danny Green and Kyle Kuzma. I kept walking towards my Dad and he was surprised to see me.
"Emily, what are you doing here?" He said standing up.
"You forgot your binder at home, mom told me to bring it to you"
"Thanks"
"No problem" I said walking out.
"Are you coming to the game tonight?"
"Yes ill be there" I said and kept walking.
I got out to my car and headed back home. Im going to UCLA this year as a freshman and playing on their softball team. I dont move in for another 2 weeks but have been practicing for a couple of months. My family was surprised that I chose to go their but they have a great softball program and I verbally committed before we even knew we were moving here, I thought I was getting away but turns out im going to a college 15 minutes away from my house. Softball pracitice starts in an hour so I decided to stop and get some food at subway and then head home to change and grab my bag. When I got to practice I started in the batting cage. Not everyone from our team is here yet since we havent moved in and many of them dont live near LA. Practices are basically whatever we want to do to get ready. Ive made a couple good friends Mia and Hailey. They are both from LA and grew up here so they have helped me settle in.
"So when do you need us for the game" Hailey asked.
"At like 5 ill pick you guys up"
"Who do they play?"
"The warriors its the first preseason game" I said as Hailey stepped up to bat.
"Any cute guys?" Mia asked.
"I dont know I havent seen the team"
"Girl if I had your connections I would be showing up everyday to practice in my best outfit to find an nba hot husband come on"
"I dont think I would ever be able to date an NBA players, no NBA player would like me anyways" I said and they both laughed.
"Yeah right" Hailey said as it was Mias turn to bat.
"Im gonna go do some cardio" I said putting my bat back in my bat bag.
I ran sprints around the track then 2 laps cool down moving on to lifting weights. I had to leave in 10 minutes in order to be ready for the game and to pick up the girls on time. I did some lifts and then I grabbed my stuff and left.
