Birmingham, December, 2019

Snow. Little droplets of the small fragments of ice gently fell from the puffy clouds in the clouds. You would have expected the cheers of little children, the scent of hot chocolate and the vibrant colour of Christmas hoodies to ocean this frosty day. But no. Instead, the groans of chilly children, the blandness of British uniforms and the scent of boredom filled the huge classroom.

As the boresome history teacher babbled on to the year ten class, no one could really pay attention. The idea of Christmas just being a corner away made the students forget about the worries of school. Instead, most were dreaming of Christmas presents, family or just getting away from the perils of school.

Snapping back into reality, Tara noticed the teacher writing something on the board. This obviously must have been something interesting, as it sparked conversation in the previously dead classroom.

HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT: RESEARCH IN DEPTH THE HOLOCAUST AND CREATE SOMETHING TO PRESENT TO THE CLASS ABOUT IT FOR THE FIRST LESSON BACK. WORK IN GROUPS OF FOUR AT LEAST.

Tara looked from the front of the classroom and made that well known eye contact that signalled," I don't care whatever happens but we are working together." to Hail.

Just then though, the teacher put up something on the board. It was the groups everyone was to work in. Groaning, the brown haired girl banged her head on the table when she realised who she had to work with. On the other hand, the short black-haired girl grinned with joy as she realised she was working with people from her form.

Hail's group: Wenni Davids, Nicole Harrison, Sabrina Sybill
Taras's group: Briar Nials, Jess Kyle, Rachel Ryder

In short, Hail was at least put with people she knew and could talk well with as she was an enthusiastic ambivert. The other girl was stuck with the big three, the 'owners' of the school. The ones she had... complications with last year. It was going to be very interesting for her.

Annoyed as it was, the girl couldn't help but pout when she realised that her best friend's group were going to the computer room to start their project. Already, she knew that the whole project would be loaded on her shoulders but she needed some time to debrief from all the stress.

Being the introvert she was, she just silently nodded around the new faces. Walking towards the library, she could have sworn she felt a pair of glaring eyes burning the behind of her neck. When she looked all she saw was the group walking away. What she didn't notice was that one,  the one staring at her with an almost malicious expression.

By the time she got to the lockers by the end of that day, she probably waited for around 20 minutes while everyone was eagerly filling out. She was just there. Forgotten by everyone. It was only until she was walking out of the gates she got a ping from her phone...
