Awakening

I awoke with a mind numbing pain coming from my left chest. "What the -" was all I could get out before I saw the cause of the pain.

A tatoo by the looks of it,but this wasn't a normal tattoo. It glowed a bright purple and seemed to be moving! It continuously swirled and curved, constantly changing form because of it.

A barrage of questions filled my mind.Where did it come from? Why was it on me?Was it good or bad?Why was it moving? Why did it glow purple? Where was I?

As this last question crossed my mind, I for the first time took note of my surroundings. I was in a forest, although I've never seen one like it ever before. The trees stretched upwards for what seemed like an eternity before ending in thick foliage that blocked out the sun completely. But it was the leaves of the tree that had me staring up at them with a look of horror and excitement. They glowed...no,they shined! They shined a magnificent shade of purple that made the leaves seem ethereal. The trees covered the sky like a canopy and made it impossible for any light to shine through. The soil was a rich brown colour, almost chocolate. The leaves that littered the ground gave it the same ethereal glow the sky had.

I stood up and looked down at myself, realizing also for the first time that I was completely naked!I made to cover myself, but stopped after realizing I was completely alone. I stared at the purple tattoo for a while, examining it closer this time..

Wait..

My body stiffens, with shaking hands I reach up to the tattoo to touch it. My own creamy skin seemed to glow itself around the edges of the tattoo,it still swirling and curving into unknown shapes and lines. The soft glow of the tattoo looked like it was pulsating with the rythym of a heart. Not my own, because currently that resembled a jackhammer beating against concrete rather than a normal beating heart.

Focusing on the glow the tattoo emmited I unconsciously mutter to myself in deep concentration "This tattoo,it glows the same colour as the trees in this forest...are they connected somehow?Am I connected to this forest?" Realizing I knew way too little to be asking myself these questions I instead choose to focus on something else. I walk up to one of the trees surrounding me, noticing that it looked even bigger up close, and put my hand on the base of the tree;it's brown, hard bark making it feel rough to touch.

As soon as I touch the tree,my tattoo starts to glow brighter and brighter to the point where I have to shield my eyes from the light. However,as soon as I lifted my hand off the tree my tattoo stopped glowing. This didn't occur to me though, and I continued to shield my eyes and step backwards away from the tree in fear of the blinding light. It didn't take me long to lodge the back of my heel into a rock and fall hard on my head, hitting my head against another well placed rock. The impact causes me to see black for a second before slowly regaining my vision. Still laying on the floor I hold the side of my head with my hand, but as I do this I feel a sticky substance in my hair. Looking down at my hand I can see it's blood,I must've cut myself open on the rock my head fell on. I decide to get up,but immediately regret doing so because as soon as I did the world seemed to start spinning with me. Sitting back down with my knees pulled up and my hands draped over them I looked at my tattoo once more, going back to muttering to myself.

"When I touched that tree,I felt something. I know I felt something....but what?" the feeling didn't last long enough for me to know what exactly it was. "It didn't hurt me when I felt it,in fact it felt...good." knowing this calmed me, because it meant that whatever I felt couldn't have been harmful if it felt good... right?

The world stopped spinning and I got up again, feeling less lightheaded this time. Walking up to the same tree I touched before,I close my eyes and slowly reach for the trunk of the tree once more. As soon as my fingertips touched the wood,I felt an immense surge of energy flow through me. It felt so good!It felt like ice cream on a hot summers day or like being given a hug by a thousand puppies. It felt soft and gentle, like I was feeling nature itself flow through me. I put my other hand on the tree and the feeling intensified, putting me in a state of euphoria through pure pleasure from having this feeling course through my veins. It was filling every part in me to the brim, and yet I couldn't stop wanting more. I leaned forward and into the tree, but instead of feeling the rough bark against my cheek I continued leaning forward and instead went into the tree! Now I wasn't just filled with this incredible energy but completely surrounded by it! I could feel myself getting stronger and stronger from this energy and I thought I wanted it to end...

But then I did, because soon the energy wasn't enveloping me in it's embrace but started to suffocate me to the point I couldn't breathe. I quickly opened my eyes and found that I was in a pure purple void. There was nothing but this energy here,I could feel it....I needed to escape. Closing my eyes again I started to focus on the flow of the energy going around and into me. It felt like I was standing right in the middle of a hurricane, the energy trying to tear me apart. Quickly I imagined the flow growing smaller and smaller, and as I did this the suffocating feeling disappeared and that gentle soft energy returned once more. Now the energy flowed into me like a small stream, gently flowing through my own soul and strengthening it. Now I imagined the flow not at all going through me,and the feeling started fading away. I could still feel the energy flowing around me and inside me I could feel the same gentle energy as well, albeit weaker.

When I opened my eyes again I found myself standing by the tree once more,my one hand still touching it. I stepped back and noticed I had a soft purple glow around my whole body,my tattoo glowing brightly but not so bright that I couldn't look at it. It still swirled and curved, but now I could feel that it swirled and curled with the same flow as the energy I was now able to feel.

Smiling to myself for no reason at all,I started walking in the first direction I thought of.... forward.

A/N:

Oh wow McQuewan you just wrote the first chapter of the first book you've ever written!😁😁 Tbh I have no idea where this idea came from, and I have no idea where it's going...but I'm just going to let this story roll out the way it happens in my mind.

Anyway,I hope you like this first chapter and that it has you intrigued and wondering who our main character is,and what is this energy he feels?

You'll only know if you continue reading, and you'll only be able to do that if I ever write another chapter😂💔(Cause tbh I don't even know wtf this is)

Stay safe🌹
