Chapter 3

Prince Lucian the III of Tayl. Next in line for throne once his father steps down. Except there was one problem. His father and mother, along with almost everyone in the kingdom, feared him. They thought he was ruthless and cruel. Unfit to be a great leader, compared to his father's kind and tender soul. Place the father and son next to one another, and you could see the differences right away.

The father was a well respected elder full of wisdom. The son was a thoughtless and heartless young lad. The father had a weaker figure but still strong at the same time. The son had a strong muscular build. The father was to be cherished. The son was to be feared of.

Lucian wasn't always who he is now. He used to have a pure and kind soul. But something changed inside of him, and no one knew what.

His father, even kind and gentle, had to take care of the problem that has been haunting and scaring most of the people of Tayl for the past two years.

The Silver Eyed Pixie is what everyone called her. The wanted poster could be found hung up almost everywhere. Each one having a slightly different version of a rough sketch, for no one could quite clearly remember what she looked like.

Lucian's father honestly pitied this girl. There was no shown proof that she was the one behind all these strange happenings. Except for the fact that her right eye was silver.

Even though this is what he thought. The King arranged for a hunt to attempt to find the Silver Eyed Pixie. And of course, he was forcing Lucian to lead it while his stayed behind to take care of "Royal Duties".

As cruel as he was, Lucian did not really care about the situation involving the Silver Eyed Pixie. He did not want to admit that he was afraid of her, or even just the idea of her. He was selfish and would rather stay inside the safety of The City's walls, confined inside his room in The Palace.

He even considered enlisting his mother, the Queen, to try and talk some sense into her husband. But Lucian knew that she would just agree with his father. 'It would be good for him to get out for once.' she would say.

So that is basically how he found himself in front of the outer gate of The City, one morning awakened at the brink of dawn, saddling up his horse Felicite.

As Lucian gave a gentle hug to his mother, his father shouted from behind him, "Lucian. Go. Now!" making it perfectly clear that he was waiting impatiently for him to leave and start the hunt.

Lucian had to restrain from rolling his eyes at his father's attitude. "I am coming." he shouted back. He took one last glance at his mother, who gave him a sympathetic smile, before shaking his head, and hauling himself onto Felicite.

They were off. Three soldiers followed by the arrows man, three more soldiers. And then Lucian himself.

Lucian now despised, but could never hate, his father for making him go on the hunt for the Silver eyed Pixie. Possibly risking his life, while his father sat around with his all mighty crown perched on top of his too big of a head.

It was at least a three hour trek to get to the southern edge - the closest edge to The City - of the Aternitas Forest. And Lucian was a very impatient lad.

He had never really been inside the forest. Just at the outer edge. and now he was going in. even though curious, he was also very afraid.

Lucian then saw something that he recognized from his lecture on Aternitas forest. A tree filled with the most pure, wicked fruit, there could ever be. It had the ability to poison the desired victim, when consumed, forever.
