It's been at least three hours now. Alex and I have been sitting in the waiting room every since we arrived.
"Fuck! Why didn't she call instead of trying to fight them off?" Alex says angrily
"Hey.. Nicky will be fine. She's a fighter you know that right?" Piper says
"Yeah clearly! She should have just called us! I mean what the fuck she was drunk too. If you ask me she's pretty fucking stupid! Like seriously he had a gun!" Alex yells again
"Alex please stop being rude! Nicky tried ok and that's the kindest thing she could have done today." Piper says defensively
"I can't be here right now... I need some air." Alex fired back
And with that being said she stormed out of the hospital doors.
Piper sat there for a minute with a blank face before realizing that she should go try again with Alex.
She quickly stood up and rushed outside. She eventually spotted Alex sitting on a bench alone so she sat next to her.
"Alex I know you're scared for Nicky so am I. That's why we have to stay strong...for her." Piper says softly to Alex
Alex looks up at piper and grabs her hand and begins to speak.
"I'm sorry I snapped pipes I just... I'm really worried pipes what if..."
"Hey! Alex don't think like that Nicky is going to be fine. We have to believe that!"
They hug tightly and share a kiss. When they returned to the waiting room they were met by a nurse.
"Piper Chapman uh sorry Vause-Chapman. I've read your book and may I say I fell in love. uh thank you for sharing your experience!"
"Um thank you nurse?.."
"Oh Um nurse Dorner!"
"Well thank you nurse Dorner it truly means a lot" Piper says while squeezing Alex's hand.
The nurse quickly noticed their rings.
"Oh! I am so sorry! Hi you are clearly piper's wife Alex I'm so sorry I didn't notice you."
The nurse reaches to shake Alex's hand but Alex declines.
"Oh.. well it was nice to meet you. Oh my god I completely forgot I guess I was distracted. Um Miss Nichols has made it through surgery and is ready to see you two."
"Jesus Christ lady you couldn't lead with that! Room number?" Alex yells
"Oh room 115 on the second floor." The nurse said embarrassed
Alex pulls piper to the elevator.
"Alex you could have shaken her hand" piper says laughing
"Germs! And I'm glad I didn't." Alex responded
The elevator doors shut.
