Jack Marston was one of the few men like him left. The age of the outlaw was long since dead and since the beginning of the new century, there seemed to be more and more men obsessed with the ideas of fortune and business, and less men willing to get there hands dirty and do a good day's work at a ranch. There were less men who only cared about having enough money to live. There were less men who preferred a simple life in the open country. There were less men who even remembered the old ways of living. However, Jack remembered.

Jack was taught everything he knew from his parents, John and Abigail Marston, and the gang they used to be apart of. He had an unusual childhood, constantly having to move all over the country to avoid the law and other gangs. However rough his gang life may have been, it learned some useful skills from having an outlaw as a father. His father taught him how to shoot a gun, ride a horse and many survival skills. His mother taught him to be less like his father.

By 1899, Jack's life living with a gang was over. By 1911, Jack's father was brutally killed by the army, under the orders of agent Edgar Ross.

The year was 1914, Jack had finished burying his mother after she died of tuberculosis - the disease had been laying dormant in her for years. He buried her side by side with his father, so they could be together again.

Before Jack could move on with his life, he had one thing he felt he needed to do. He needed to avenge his father, who was used and unfairly killed by the military. His father was killed by the orders of Edgar Ross and Jack craved vengeance and justice.
