Malakai's vision cleared, he looked around to find himself floating in a pitch black abyss. "What the... Where am I?" He said confused.

"Follow the path and all will be revealed." A ghastly voice said. Suddenly a cobblestone path materialized three feet under Malakai and he fell down onto said pathway. "Be wary of the beast that lurks this path." The voice said. Suddenly torches lit both ways for what seemed like an eternity.

"What beast? Who are y-?" He was cut off by a loud but extremely low growl, Malakai jumped to his feet and looked both ways to find that a pair of solid white eyes staring at him from the darkness, the growl grew louder as the unknown creature approached and beyond it, the torches lining the pathway went out and the pathway fell into the abyss. "Shit!!! Well looks like I'm heading this way... relatively quickly." He turned on his heels and sprinted away from the creature and the ever close darkness. He ran for what felt like miles until the floor beneath him gave way and he fell into the darkness. Suddenly a new floor was formed, catching him. He noticed that the floor, instead of cobblestone, was a sandy ring that had blood stains and half skeletons. It was an arena...

The voice spoke once more...

"Fight all adversaries to proceed the reason will become clear after."

The voice faded as his family's sword and sheath appeared in front of him, floating. Without warning four dark shadows materialized before him, each with a broadsword and a heavy Iron tower shield, they held their shields as if it was as light as a standard wooden target buckler that came up to about their neck, they also seemed to be as tall as Malakai. The shadows all dashed for Malakai who unsheathed the sword and parried a stab but the shadow recovered far quicker than he could deliver a counter attack. The three other shadows gathered into a wall and advanced forward with the strength of thirty men "HYAAA!!!" Malakai shouted as he tackled the lone shadow and slit his throat, the body went still before evaporating into shadowy wisps. It felt strangely fun and made him feel... good. Slowly a burning rage grew within him as he wrenched one of the shields free from one of the three remaining shadows "You all will die... DIIIIIEEEE!!!!!" he screamed, blocking incoming attacks from the unshielded enemy, swiftly decapitating him and once the body hit the sand and vanished, he slowly turned towards the remaining two shadows. A burning hatred searing in his eyes, beads of sweat forming on his brow. The taste of copper in his mouth and his heart hammering away inside his chest. The two Shadows split up and one was circling around to flank him, in perfect unison they charged for Malakai who had a wide smile from ear to ear. He jumped, clearing the shields by a full meter, when he landed he fell on one shadow, killing it from the impact. Malakai turned towards the final shadow who ditched his shield for another sword. Malakai threw the shield he stole and it struck the shadow in the head and the shadow fell to the ground, Malakai picked the shield back up from the ground and brutally decapitated the last shadow with the edge of the shield, He started to sigh, the adrenaline slowly leaking from his body.

The voice then spoke again...

"The fight is won but do not relax" a very familiar growl resonated from above and just then a gate appeared...

Right behind the creature as it landed...

Now that the creature was in the light Malakai could see that it was a humanoid figure but with a long lizard-like tail and facial structure, a dark aura surrounded the creature like a black flame and it's eyes were solid white like freshly fallen snow but fierce like hungry wolf.

"Uh, Oh." Malakai whimpered as he lowered his body again, weakened from the previous fight. He tried to run past the figure but a monstrous blade materialized in the creature's hand and the beast began a relentless onslaught of slashes. Malakai ducked under the sword and attempted to stab the creature but it jumped into the air, higher than any man could ever leap. Landing gracefully atop Malakai's outstretched sword, they stared into each others eyes as the creature struck him with the hilt of the sword. "Nngh." Malakai winced as a stream of blood seeped out of his forehead and dripped to the ground, he slashed at the creature who dodged with remarkable speed, it's movements seemed unnaturally smooth. Thankfully this dodge left the way to the gate wide open. Malakai dashed for the gate but as he turned he felt a sharp pain form in the center of his chest, he looked down to see that the creature who was across the arena from him had stabbed him in the back. Driven by a searing desire for survival, he threw himself off the sword and continued to run for the gate. He knew that if he stopped, he would die. Malakai got about ten feet from the gate when he felt an arm grab the back of his shirt, the feel of the arm sent shivers down his spine. Malakai spun to see that the creature had stopped chasing, but instead was what Malakai could only assume to be laughing, he slowly backed towards the gate keeping his eyes on the creature, the creature suddenly disappeared and reappeared right behind Malakai.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Malakai asked as he fell to the floor attempting to scramble away from the creature. The creature stared at him and started to 'laugh' again. Finally the creature spoke.

"Me?" It said. It's voice low and resonant. "Well I won't say, I will however say that we will meet again. As for my desire..." The creature lunged towards Malakai wrapping his hand around his throat. A burning sensation filled Malakai's chest, breathing became hard as the creature lifted him off of the ground, a sickening crunch filled his ears as the monster started to crush his wind pipe. This was it...

Malakai's vision started to tunnel, soon the only thing he could see was those solid white eyes... and then nothing, the burning slowly became ice cold...

But then.... A voice Sounding close yet at the same time, an eternity away.

"Death is not your destiny." Suddenly a bright light engulfed both the creature and Malakai causing the creature to let go and jump backwards. Malakai opened his eyes to see that his brother was standing before him... Sword and shield in hand, he turned towards Malakai. "Go! I'll hold this freak off!" The spirit of Theotrick dashed for the creature allowing Malakai to get to the gate and went through...

Everything went white. Malakai awoke covered in blood on a pile of hay. As his vision cleared he saw a figure standing over him.

Malakai then slowly slipped into unconsciousness once more.
