Cherry blossom

It was a warm April afternoon, Friday specifically. The birds were singing and the trees started to bloom. Since Vale doesn't go to work on Fridays she decided to call up a friend.
Cath was making coffee when her phone rang. She didn't pick it up immediately but only after she made coffee. This always annoyed Vale but she knew better than to jump right to anger. Cath was the type that didn't rush anything and even though her schedule is busy Cath can be there for anyone anytime.
After about a minute she finally picked up.

„Hey, Vale! What's up? " Cath asked, she was very jolly. As usual then.

„Nothing much. Can I come over? I'm bored and Thomas will be home in  about 3 hours" Vale said, she haven't seen Cath in 2 weeks and wanted to know what's new. Of course she could just ask Cath over a phone call but it's much better in person.

„Sure thing. I'll make another coffee " Cath answered in an upbeat tone.

„I'll be there in 10 minutes" Vale took her keys as she said that. She was already dressed and didn't need to change.

„Okay" with that the phone call ended. Vale put on her shoes and headed out, locking the door behind herself.

She quickly went down the stairs and out the building. She drove a silver coloured Mercedes-Benz that was parked in front of the building. It wasn't a new ride but it was in a good condition and functioned the way it should.
Vale got in and turned on the radio. The song playing was Mamma Mia by Abba. She loved this song so she turned the volume up and sang along.
The traffic in New York was horrible but she got through it and then it took her 15 more minutes to get to Cath's place.
The building Cath lived in was a smaller than Vale's. Cath's apartment was on the 5th floor so Vale took the elevator.

She knocked on the door two times so Cath would hear her. She opened right away. Cath's cat was quick to check who the visitor was. Latte was a Siamese cat with bright blue eyes that always wondered around, she had beautiful fur. Vale could tell just by the look of her that Cath takes good care.
She invited Vale in and the two of them sat down on the couch. Cath already made coffee for both of them that was still warm.

„So, how's work? " Cath asked taking a sip from her coffee.

„It's fine, we got a new colleague and I have to help her  get used to some things but otherwise it's great" Vale answered. It was true, Amelia stressed a lot sometimes and Vale had to calm her down, she remembers when she was a newbie herself. She knows it's not easy for Amelia to adjust.

„Cool" was all Cath said to that.

They kept on chatting and sipping coffee until they heard the front door unlock followed by a sound of high heels stepping on the floor. Then they heard as a woman said: „Babe, I think I forgot my phone here"

„Yeah it's in the kitchen. Oh and say hi to Valentina, I told you about her" Cath answered.

A tall woman that looked as if she could be around 20 walked into the living room. She wore a jade coloured dress and black heels. Her skin was brown and her eyes were green. Vale never saw her before.
Cath got up and walked to her.

„Hannah, this is Vale. Vale this is Hannah, she's my girlfriend" Cath said. Vale got up.

„Nice to meet you" Hannah stretched out her arm and shook Vale's hand.

„Nice to meet you too" said Vale, shaking Hannah's hand.

Hannah then exused herself and went to take her phone. She had to leave for work and the women went back to chatting.

„So it's serious this time? " Vale asked. Cath didn't have a lot of committed relationships. Usually she'd just hook up with a random girl or answer a booty call. She only had a long lasting relationship once, which was with Zara. That relationship lasted for three years, they broke up about two years ago.

„Yup, this time it is" Cath replied.

„That's good, I'm happy for you" Vale smiled warmly at Cath. She really was happy for her, maybe she finally found someone.

At around 4 pm they parted ways. Thomas was supposed to be home soon and they've already talked about everything. They arranged a meet up in a cafe for next week and then Vale went home. There's wasn't anyone there when she came back to her apartment. She layed down on her bed and scrolled through her Instagram.
Thomas got home about 20 minutes after Vale.
He went to change and then layed down next to her on the bed. He seemed exhausted and so he decided to take a nap. Soon Vale joined him. They didn't say much to each other that day but words weren't needed at all.
