Trying

I tried. I really did. I tried so hard to run. Tried so hard to get out alive. Unharmed. I failed. But I tried.
I ran to the back door to get into the garage so I can get to James' car but as I was darting through the kitchen to there, I fell and sliced my side on a knife that was part of the mess from the earlier fight with Jared.

"Sh-she d-d-didn't m-make it." I choked out.
"I-I figured as much when I heard the gunshot. Did you see it?" He said.
I simply nodded. He pulled me in for a hug but I pulled away.
"We have to get out of here! Now!"
"Y-yeah. Let's go."
"No. He's after me. Not you. I will go one way, you go the other. Keep Charles safe!"
As he was deciding whether or not to listen to me we heard more gunshot coming from the house.
"Go!" He darted over to give me one last hug but he accidentally touched the cut on my side. I screamed a little and he backed away.
"You're bleeding!" Tell me something I don't know.
"Go!" He ran to the car, hopped in, and drove off to the right. While I ran in the opposite direction I could tell by Jareds screams that if we were there about thirty second later we would be dead.
So I ran. And ran. And ran. I got a little over a mile before I had to slow down to a sprint. I got another two miles before I had to stop. I silently praised myself for running from the ghosts. It can be great exercise to run from your demons. Of course mine may or may not be actual demons. I took a break for about five minutes before I got up and ran some more. I'm not sure how far I got before I collapsed. I tried to get up. I really did. Especially when I heard the voices of what sounded to be at least five guys. Even more so when I heard them all go silent. But I couldn't move. I especially couldn't move when I blacked out. I tried. I really did.

Thank you guys for bearing with me. I suddenly found this burst of energy and motivation so I had to write. And thank you my best friend, Mary (@MarianTickel) for being a pain in my ass anytime I would come over. She hated me for the cliffhanger. Sorry but I like them! Actually I'm not sorry for doing something I like. Thanks for staying with me. I am obviously a new writer and you guys are my first followers. I promise I've checked out at least one book from each of you. Thank you. Especially if you actually read these things. I always read authors notes and I actually find a lot of funny stuff.
