I did my best to keep myself tucked away from anyone's view. The sound of heavy footsteps marching past my cell made my blood run cold. I could hear voices as they passed. I felt my whole body shaking as I crouched near the ground.

Then the loud noises started. The sound of weapons firing caused me to tuck further into myself and cover my ears. I felt tears falling down my cheeks as the noises got louder. Whoever was shooting was getting closer a lot faster than I thought they would.

I heard my cell door bust open. Someone stomped in and stomped right back out. I slowly crept out and looked around. No one was nearby, I slipped out of my cell and headed for the loading bay. My eyes went wide when I saw a ship sitting in it.

There weren't any slaves lined up. That meant these guys were the attackers. I'd probably be safer with them. I glanced around making sure the coast was clear. Then I darted toward the ship.

I slipped aboard and ducked into a hiding place. I pulled some stuff in front of me and over my head. I got situated just in time. I heard the sound of boots climbing back on board.

"What'cha find Captain?" A voice asked.

"Plenty of shit, boys." A gruff voice replied. "Load everything up, and let's get moving!"

I heard stuff being slammed around. I pressed my back against the wall and brought my knees up to my chest. I could hear the ship's crew moving around. I didn't dare to move, I couldn't call attention to myself.

"Captain we're ready to take off." A voice said.

"Then let's get outta here." The Captain ordered.

I felt the ship tilt as it took off. Thankfully my hiding place wasn't disturbed. I swallowed thickly and curled up tighter. I felt my heart slam in my chest, fear of being found caused me to shake. I pulled the rags I had on tighter around myself.

The ship's engine's hum was nice and soothing. My eyes started to get heavy. They started to close when suddenly one of the boxes concealing me was yanked away. I shrieked when I was yanked up and out of my hideaway.

"Lookit what I foun' Martinex!" The guy holding me up said. "A lil Skrull stowaway!"

I struggled in his grip angrily. I grabbed his arm and pulled myself up. I opened my mouth and bit his arm, hard. He yelled and let go of my rags. I dropped to the ground, and landed in a heap.

"Hey, be careful, that's a kid!" A voice barked. "It's hurt enough!"

I stumbled to my feet and shook my head. I felt an old wound open back up. I looked at my side and whimpered. I clutched my rags to my side and backed up. The guy who scolded the man that picked me up walked forward.

"It's okay kid, lemme see ya side." He said.

I shook my head and backed up some more. The guy frowned and held up a medkit. He held it out and nodded at it. Then he placed it on the ground and slid it to my feet. I slowly knelt down and picked it up.

"Okay, there's some stuff in there to help with that wound ya have." The man said. "If ya need help, just ask."

I slowly opened the kit and looked it over. I pulled out some gauze and placed it on my wound. The guy who gave me the kit shook his head. He slowly walked forward.

"Let me help ya, kid." He said.

I felt myself start shaking as I slowly held out the kit. My hand visibly shook as I held it out. The guy took it gently. Then he stepped close and started treating my wound. I yelped in pain when he put some kind of ointment to my wound.

"Alright, I'm done, kid." He said. "Now, I gotta take ya to see the Captain."

I froze and shook hard. The guy just gently took my hand and led me out of the hanger. He gently nudged me ahead of him and brought me to the bridge. I shook, even more, when I saw the Captain sitting in his chair.

"Captain, yer stowaway is here." The guy leading me said.

"Thank you, Martinex." The Captain said. "Nice try kid, but I knew you were in that damn cell."

The guy who lead me into the room gently placed his hand on my head. I froze and started shaking again. He knelt down and placed a hand on my shoulder. I looked at him and shook my head.

"It's okay, kid." He said. "The Captain ain't gonna hurt ya."

"He's right, come 'ere kid." The Captain said.

I walked forward slowly and stopped in front of him. He looked me over and shook his head. Then he leaned forward and placed his hand on my shoulder. I flinched when he moved his hand up.

"Shh, kid, it's okay." He said. "Ain't none of my men gonna hurt ya."

"Captain, someone already did." The man leading me around said. "Kajah, he snatched her out of her hiding place and dropped her on the ground."

"I gave orders for you boys to be gentle when getting the kid out. What the hell was he thinking?"

"I think he scared her badly. She bit him pretty hard. He had her by the back of her dress when he picked her up. She was freaked out."

"Hmm, tough kid ain't she? I saw the footage. Tell Kajah that he's on kitchen duty till her side fully heals. So, kid, you got any family?"

I shakily shook my head no. He frowned and nodded. Then he slowly moved his hand up and patted my head. I squeezed my eyes shut and cowered away.

"Easy kid, we're not gonna sell ya." The Captain said. "We're Ravagers, we follow a strict code."

I stared at him wide-eyed. It would figure I slipped aboard a Ravagers ship. The Captain didn't seem mad at me. In fact, he seemed rather pleased.

"Well, I know you can sneak around well enough." He said. "Except for my seeing you slip aboard, you snuck around very well."

"You saw her sneak aboard and didn't say anything?" A different voice asked.

"This is my ship and my crew. I was very much aware of this kid. None of you are to touch her, I'll take her in as my daughter. Make sure the other Ravagers know."

"But Captain, you don't even know her name! How can you take her in?"

The Captain looked at me and smirked. He slowly reached out and placed a hand on my head, again. I smiled and placed my hand on top of his. He smiled when I squeezed his hand.

"Hey, what is your name kid?" He asked. "I'm Stakar Ogord."

"My name's Tasi Jaras." I finally said.

"That's a nice name kid." Martinex said.

I looked at him and managed a small smile. These two seemed to be kind of cool. They were a lot nicer than the guy that picked me up earlier. Of course, it could be an act, I'd have to be careful.
