I wake up with my ears still ringing from the explosion

"Rise and shine!" a new voice tells me. I sit up with a pounding headache.

"Ugh." I groan, rubbing my head. "What- Where- Who?" I ask groggily, still coming to my senses.

"I am Tiara, to answer one of your questions." A 16 year old girl in ripped skinny jeans with black combat boots and a jean jacket over a plaid shirt answers. She has golden brown hair and dark skin. Her dark brown eyes observe me with expectancy.

"Well then, Tiara, where are we?" I look around the room I am in. Dark blue walls blend with the light blue carpet, brown leather furniture sit around a glass coffee table. A fire is crackling in the stone fireplace. Leopard print curtains cover a large window wall.

"Lindsay will explain when she gets back. For now, you need to eat." She walks over to a glass refrigerator in the wall and pulls out a Papa John's pizza. "I hope you like meat lovers!"

"Uh okay...." She tosses me a slice, which I catch off of instinct. I begin to eat the cold pizza. "So Tiara" I say between mouthfuls. "What day is it?"

She laughs. " December 25!"

"And I didn't know glass refrigerator exist..." I reply unsurely.

"Ah yes, the year. Funny thing, time is." She laughs half-heartedly.

"Tiara..." I threaten.

"Fine, fine. It's 3000." She answers quickly.

I freeze completely. "It's-" I have trouble breathing. "The year 3000?" I look down at my body, which hasn't aged a bit. I'm still the 17 year old girl I was when the warehouse exploded. "But how-"

"No one knows. My great great great grandfather found you in 2014 passed out in the middle of the road by an exploded chemical warehouse in Houston, Texas." She cuts me off.

I caught my breath. "I- I have a brother. Is he here?" I whisper.

She shakes her head. "It was only you." I involuntarily begin weeping into my hands.

I fall to my knees and look at the ceiling. "What have I ever done to you?! You had already taken all of my family. All I had was him. Now I'm 1000 years in the future?! Why?!!" I scream, tears still streaming from my eyes. Tiara places her hand gently on my shoulder.

"Hey, things will get better." She says. "Maybe." She muttered under her breath.

"Maybe? How could it get any worse?" I announce.

"Well...." She looks like I punched her in the gut. "I don't know." Someone raps their fist on the door. "Lindsay is here!" She yelled and ran to the door. I slowly stood up, ready for whatever comes at me.

"Out of your coma?" A blonde headed girl asks me. She has a flower sundress on under a leather jacket with silver high heels on. Her tan skin blends with her straight long hair.

I put my arms in a pleading manner. "I guess so. So, you are Lindsay?" I ask

"Yes. Now may I ask, who are you?" She looks at me quizzically.

"Oh, me?" I place my hand on my chest sarcastically. "Angel Kohl. And Angel Kohl would like to know where the hell she is." I reply.

"Argo III. Space ship of the decade." She answers.

I laugh dryly. "That's funny. My brother, Percy Kohl, read about Argo II. He was in love with it. Too bad he's not here." I glare pointedly at Tiara.

She threw her hands in the air with exasperation. "It's not my fault!"

"Why do you think it's Tiara's fault your brother didn't get found and preserved in a coma like you were?" Lindsay asks.

"WHO ELSE DO I BLAME?! I HAVE NO FAMILY TO COMFORT ME! I DON'T KNOW YOU PEOPLE!" I shout.

Tiara shies away from me. "Actually..." She whispers. "You're my great great great aunt..."

"You're saying.... My brother lived? How long?" I mutter.

"Into his late 90s. He kept you in a hospital wing in his mansion."

"Wait, mansion? How did he get a mansion?" I ask her

She shrugs. "That was an extremely long time ago."

I sit down hard on the leather couch. How do I react to this? Do I cry? Do I get angry? Do I laugh? Do I nod? "I..."

Lindsay coughs. "Well, shall we go up top?" she asks.

".... Up top?" I question

She smiles. "Follow me." she leaves the room and Tiara follows.

Not wanting to be alone, I reluctantly get up from the very comfortable couch and head after them. I go up multiple flights of steps to the top deck and find there was no longer a sky. Millions upon millions of stars light up the black sky. Looking around the deck, I see that it looks exactly like a regular ship on Earth, just more... futuristic.

The silver sail is fluttering like it's being blown by the wind. The floor is also silver, but has been made to look and feel like planks of wood.

At the starboard mast, a rope ladder goes all the way to the top of the mast, most likely for maintenance.

Up at the stern, a captain in white leather clothes shouts orders to the shipmates, such as, "Port to starboard! All hands on deck!" Et cetera. I look up to the crowsnest on the starboard mast to see Tiara and Lindsay beckoning me to them.

"How?" I shout up to them. I search the ship for a way up and see silver planks leading up to the crowsnest. I run over to the ladder and begin climbing. Only a few seconds later I am standing next to them. "How did I-"

They look at me in awe. "I have absolutely no idea." Tiara replies.

I attempt to shrug it off, but something keeps nagging at me. "So why are we up here?" I ask. Lindsay smirks and points over the side of the ship. I look and see a muddy brown sphere in the midst of the blackness of space. "Is that-" Lindsay cuts me off.

"Yeah. That's Earth." She states.

"But what happened to it?" I question.

"Humans." she states simply. "Pollution progressed quickly when you were in a coma."

Finally what is nagging at me literally punches me. I fall from the crowsnest, screaming bloody murder. To my surprise I land on my feet like a cat, perfectly fine. That must've been at least a 30 foot fall.

Tiara screams down at me, "oh my lord! Angel!" She rushes down the ladder two at a time, which still took her at least one minute. When she gets down she runs over to see if I am okay.

"Tiara! Calm down! I'm fine and why are you worried? You barely even know me!" I say a bit louder than I meant to. She looked hurt.

"I-I'm sorry...." She mutters.

I roll my eyes. "I don't know what happened. I felt something punch me and I fell. How I survived the fall, I have no idea. But I need to go inside. Now."

I stride over to the door only to be stopped by someone that looks exactly like my brother. He has wavy auburn hair, green eyes, cute little freckles all over his nose to his cheek bones. I gasp. He even has a scar on his upper lip where he got a cut the night our house was attacked.

"Hello, Angel." Is all he says.
