PERSONALITY Catie is tough and resilient; with two older siblings she had to be able to keep up, and when she began to tag along on her father's trips, she had to hold her own with the guys. She doesn't turn away from a challenge and always gives everything her best. She has a softer side; she's very caring to those close to her and is very loyal. She's very intelligent; she learned a lot during her stint at the United States' Naval Academy, and she learned to make intelligent decisions on her feet and during stressful situations.
BACKSTORY Catie grew up in southern Florida with her parents (Logan and Chasten) and her two siblings (Arlo, 30 - Olivia, 29). Her father was a photographer for National Geographic so he spent a lot of time on the water. When Catie was old enough, she started joining him and her love for the ocean grew. They would ride out on the lab's boats, Catie with a bottle of strawberry-lemonade while the men and women drank beers, and she would help her father collect specimen samples. The crew taught her how to properly tag specimens and how to record all of their findings correctly. She loved it. Her brother took after their mother, studying engineering, while her sister was more interested in working with kids, eventually becoming a social worker. Catie's love for the ocean led her to become a marine scientist with the United States Navy. As she finished her Master's degree, the Navy introduced a new kind of submarine, one that could withstand extreme amounts of pressure for long periods of time. They planned to use it to explore the previously uncharted deep ocean. Catie decided her big project was going to be to study and map the bottom of the ocean. She set to work building a team and pitching her plan.
