1. A Prince of the Demon Clan

"Bow down to our great prince Meliodas!" the head butler dictated. Everyone followed the instruction instantly.

"Good morning Meliodas-sama!" they sang simultaneously. He was rather unimpressed by the every day identical greetings. He passed the ordinary servants without a word and entered the golden dining hall, nothing special to him, as he who was born the demon lords son. The blonde sat down as the head maid came closer 

"What does his grace desire to eat today?" she asked while setting the table with elegance. 

"I don't care just bring something," he responded emotionlessly. She paused her movements and faced him.

 "Your grace I don't like your current behavior very much. Instead of being so indifferent, you should voice your desires more. A prince like yourself has anything a commoner could wish for. So why do you," he interrupted.

 "It's exactly that. I have everything yet I don't crave anything. A prince? I think I am nothing more than a chess piece in the game that the gods are playing. Evidently I should desire more but I don't. June you know very well that I only have a few things I crave for and,"

"These are things you want to obtain yourself, I know." she finished as he slightly nodded "Your grace I do respect your wishes but... ah yes to another topic please control yourself more with your...well... mistresses. Lately, you have been quite careless. Don't forget that the daughter of the general of the western division is coming to the palace tomorrow. The council decided that you are going to spend the day with the lady. I will not lie your grace but I believe she is meant to be a..." June began.

"A marriage candidate? Again? These old geezers really don't have other things on their plate than wasting my free time it seems." he stood up and started walking away causing June to stop him by grabbing his wrist. No other servant would dare to touch a member of the royal family without permission or death wish. Such rudeness was unforgivable, normally. 

"Let go." she didn't move.

"I will not. You have to grow up Meliodas. Start behaving as you should if you want to succeed the king. A queen is needed to bear heirs to the throne even if you don't like it one day you will have to wed someone." she lectured not letting go of his wrist. With one swift movement, he tried to force her down on the table but was hindered as she grabbed him by the neck and pushed him slightly down revealing her sinister demon mark but still not as far as forcing him to bow. Even a novice would realize that this was not an ordinary woman.

"Behaving as you should? Look who is talking... acting as the head maid. In fact, you are also nothing more than an ex-soldier broken from the war, seeking something different. Yet here we are... it is a part that never dies, does it?" he coldly remarked as she stayed quiet "Even if I ever have a wife or children do you think I will be someone else than now?" he continued, his eyes filled with emptiness as she let go.

"Your grace there is something that can change you and maybe will." she turned away.

"What should that be?" he got interested.

"Love." she paused as he eyed her with an unfamiliar expression.

"Love? Are you considering this funny? I hardly feel anything right now and love is considered to be a powerful sensation isn't it? I will never be able to feel more than I do now. What nonsense are you talking about." he mocked her.

"You may not understand right now but I believe you will. The emotions you feel for her grace and prince Zeldris are also a type of love. Even if it takes more than decades you will come to understand." she explained with a for her unusual smile.

"June I am sorry that I acted that high and mighty then. I really wish you were still here. Now and 3000 years ago alike I loved you as I loved mother, as I loved Zeldris. I am sorry that I didn't understand then I," he looked up to the sky, his face saddened. 

"Sir Meliodas, what are you doing here?" Elizabeth asked as the wind revealed her hidden eye.

{If I didn't meet Elizabeth back then maybe I would have never understood this feeling.}

"Ah, its nothing I was just thinking what kind of new uniform I should design for the boar hat~" he lied as easily as ever. 

{I never even deserved you... I deserved no one of them... Elizabeth I am so sorry for all the things I have done before we met each other.}
