chapter 13 - tears

jeongguk don't know why he teared up as he read the last note taehyung gave him in his locker. he wouldn't guess that someone who's in love with him was going to leave him.

the older knew that the younger one liked him, it was too obvious but he just kept silent about it. little did taehyung know, he also fell in love with him.

unlike taehyung, jeongguk was silent about his love, and decided to keep his reputation safe and steady. taehyung didn't have that kind of image, so it was okay for him to say any nonsense loudly, nobody would notice him as people think that he was introvert, and they think all introverts are the same.

jeongguk solved all of taehyung's games in his letters, it was all too easy. like the game in "thirteen letters", jeongguk also wondered why taehyung made that statement.

at first, he thought taehyung was going to end his life. but taehyung's friends assured him that taehyung wasn't going to kill himself.

jeongguk couldn't stop hiccuping, his sobs were so loud, it was echoing in the janitors' room.

he believed them, but taehyung hasn't been in school for almost a week, exactly the same day since the day he sent the last letter.

several minutes later, jeongguk was no longer crying but his face was extremely red. there's no point of him lying. suddenly, the door opened, revealing a tall figure.

"jeongguk?"

he didn't reply, "what are you doing here?" still no replies. "are you okay?" jeongguk sobbed silently again. "i-i'm okay..," he rubbed his chest, "why are you here?"

"i was going to grab a mop to clean my classroo-- oh my gosh, are you crying?!" jeongguk immediately shushed him. "do you really want to know?!" he whispered harshly.

"i-i'd like to," namjoon said and sat down infront of jeongguk. he sighed and told him everything, even though he knew that he broke taehyung's promise, again.

the bell rang, signalling that recess was over but jeongguk was still talking about the letters. he told namjoon every little details about it, that almost every letter is dark violet, that he sometimes caught taehyung put the letter inside his locker every early morning, everything.

even though taehyung wasn't jeongguk's close friend, he still get emotional just by thinking about him. thinking he was the reason why taehyung left.

"so.. why didn't you confess to him that you like him?" namjoon asked softly, he was scared to trigger the sad boy infront of him because of his question. "if i confess, we'll probably dating right now, and that's why i don't want that to happen."

"what the heck, gguk? who wouldn't want their crush to like them back?" jeongguk quickly replied, "because if i dated him, most of the students will probably disgusted by us. you know, some of them are homophobics. and besides, i know people will hate me because i chose the 'wrong' one. besides, i just want us to stay friends."

"they probably complain like "oh jeongguk! why would you date this ugly boy? he has an ugly smile and his lips aren't that plump or red!" like that," namjoon hummed, "i honestly agree about that, to be honest. people thought good face is a good person nowadays. like, doesn't mean when you have an ugly face means you are a bad person!"

then, the rest of the periods were spent with them talking about random things. namjoon is a great guy, he knows how to cheer someone up in just a blink of an eye and to continue the conversation. however, jeongguk was still sad.

"what are you guys doing in here?!" a deep voice shouted. both of the students stood up, "s-sorry miss lanie...," she rubbed her temple.

"what's your excuse this time, jeongguk?" they went silent. "answer me!" namjoon cleared his throat, "we.. we were talking about our pro-project! uh, we were planning to sleep on jeongguk's house and he disagreed so we discussed. just us both."

the principal frowned, "okay. i don't accept that explanation, you could've discussed earlier before recess or when the school's over," she sighed. "you can go now. but! i will give you a detention for two hours for skipping classes."

jeongguk and namjoon both shouted at the same time, "no!!"
