Lola settled down to do her work at around two in the afternoon and was faced with an awful essay that she should've started at the beginning of the week. "Never mind. I can do this." She encouraged herself, putting herself in the right frame of mind.
She set off on a race that she hoped she could finish in the next couple of hours.

It was Monday.
Lola had managed to complete the essay. Thankfully it was only a draft so it hadn't needed to be perfect. Wasn't Lola glad about that.
In English, instead of sitting with Nico like she usually would, she searched for an empty seat, knowing that she wouldn't be welcome. In music, she clung to Isla, gaining reassurance from her best friend as Nico glared from across the room.
Lunchtime was the same. Alice Isla and Lola clutched together, Nico latching onto a couple of his other friends.
"You know, you should go talk to him." Isla suggested
"No," was all that Lola said. That was the end of that conversation.
By the end of the day, Lola had half persuaded herself that maybe if she did talk to Nico, everything would go back to 'normal'.
"I'll do it tomorrow." Lola insisted.
Little did she know that tomorrow never came.

Late on Monday night after Lola had sipped on a peach iced tea, she hopped into bed and turned off her bedside lamp. There was no moon, no light on in the house but yet there was a glow entering Lola's room. Because of this glow, she couldn't get to sleep so she curiously wandered to the window and gazed out at the light.
Below the window was a boy, not much younger than her. On the windowsill sat a little fairy with a green dress on.
She tinkled and then flurried away to the boy.
Lola opened the window and contemplated whether to shout down to him but abruptly decided against it when he flew up to greet her.
She stood in awe at the boy who had literally just flown up to her second story window. Just in case, Lola checked for any wires but there was none.
"I heard that someone wanted my help." The boy spoke, an arrogant smile plastered on his face.
Lola looked confused until she saw that the boy had pulled out a letter written in purple butterfly paper. She thought back to when she was six and she truly believed in the story of Peter Pan.
'It all depends if you believe. Believing is the hearts way of knowing.'
She'd written a letter to him, and sent it in the post, constantly hoping that he'd get back to her.
