'Sixteen or Two'"Steak?"
"No, that's disgusting."
"You drink blood you fucking hypocrite."Eggs are tasty. On your toast, scrambled, fried, boiled. But not on your walls. Oh no, eggs are not very good if they're splattered across your walls.
"What fucking level of teenage bullshit is this?" River seethed, taking a step back to look at the whole house in view.
"How did they even find this place?" Cove questioned instead of getting mad, lightly touching a bit of egg which was running down the wall, "I thought you said no one had lived here for years."
"No one has," was the answer he received as River suddenly bolted into the house, grabbing her purse and phone, "which means someone followed us home."
"What? How did you come to that conclusion-" Cove was cut off however, by the blur that was his sister rushing away from their property.

"I just don't think that it's necessary for you to do this right now, Riv," River rolled her eyes at the sound of her brothers' voice as she walked down the sidewalk, towards the main part of town.
"It is completely neccessary," River said in a matter of fact tone, "whoever threw eggs at our house could have broken a window!"
"Is that good enough reason to kill someone?"
"Of course!""Your blood lust is terrifying, River," Cove sighed, the sound of his voice coming out of the phone crackling, "just stay safe and don't get hurt, okay?"
"Of course, Clover," River smirked, pulling her phone away from her face and clicking off of the phone.
Stepping into the grill, River looked around for a few seconds before making eye contact with none other than Caroline Forbes.
As soon as their eyes connected, Caroline's hand went waving into the air, "River! River, come over here!"
River huffed, eyeing the people who sat around the table Caroline was sitting at. Elena, Matt, Bonnie and- the new kid.
"Perfect," River whispered lightly, making her way towards the group, letting a bright smile fall onto her lips, "hi guys! Oh, who's this?"
As River took a seat, Caroline smiled brightly at her, "This is Stefan. He lives with his uncle and just moved back here after being gone for a while!"
River turned her head, locking eyes with none other than the one guy she and her brother had been looking for.
"Stefan, this is River Mackenzie, she moved here a few years ago with her really cute brother and she likes to write!" Caroline summed up River's alias, surprisingly mentioning the fact that she liked to write which River is sure she never mentioned to the blonde.
River reached across the table, taking Stefan's hand in hers as she gave it a light shake. He just seemed so familiar.
"It's nice to meet you, Stefan," River said in the sweetest tone she could, pulling her hand away as soon as the handshake was over, "by the way, what were we talking about?"
"We were just asking Stefan about his life," Bonnie answered, smiling sweetly at the girl, "so, Stefan. Parents?"
"My parents passed away," Stefan answered simply, shifting in his seat ever so slightly that only a vampire would notice it.
"I'm so sorry," Elena frowned empathetically at him, "any siblings?"
River watched as their conversation continued, picking up on all of Stefan's body language, social ticks, the movement of his eyes. River had been reading people for as long as she could remember and Stefan? Oh, he was definitely a vampire.
✥------- † -------✥
"So, you're sure that he's a vampire? Just by his body movements?" Cove asked his sister as they met up at the grill, popping a fry into his mouth.
"I'm pretty sure, Cove. His tiny shifts every time someone walked by our table, the small movements of his eyes as he looked at everyone who spoke," River answered, staring at the door of the establishment, seemingly waiting for something to happen, "it all seemed very predatory."
"So, we found the guy," Cove flopped his hands onto the hardwood table, rolling his eyes, "do we kill him now?"
"Nope," River simply answered, stealing one of her brother's fries, a whine coming from the boy, "Caroline likes him."
"So what if Caroline likes him?" Cove asked, tilting his head slightly to the side, "I don't know if you know, but Caroline likes a lot of people."
Rolling her eyes, River sighed, throwing her napkin at her brother as she stood up, "I'm not going to ruin something that could be good for her, Cove. I may seem like a cold-hearted bitch but I do care about... a few people."
"Just a few people? How much is a few to you, River? Sixteen or two?"
