L. " So kids what do you fancy doing today"
Lando. " we built a fort in my room"
L." Oh good that will be fun to clean up later"
R."well Locke's not surfaced yet anyway , they night aswell carry on playing and we can have a think. 

Lando grabs some cookies and the kids run upstairs cheering
Link goes over to get some coffee

L." So about last night"
R."please don't tell me it was a mistake!"
L." I wasn't gonna"
I give him a look
L" ok I was but I don't mean it like that.." " let's make some sandwiches we can either eat them at lunch or we could go for a picnic"
I know he was only trying to change the subject, but to be honest I'm glad the more he thought about 'us' the less likely its gonna happen, whatever it is? I'm not even sure myself

L." Its just is it worth it, we're both married with kids..."

I thought about it for a minute then looked down

R."link what do you see here"
I hold up the sandwich
L." Well so far it's a jelly sandwich?"
R." Yes it is , let's say it's my life,  my life is a jelly sandwich
L" okay..."
I spread peanut butter on anouther slice of  bread and hold it out to him
R. " now what is it?"
L. " a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, possibly the best sandwich their is"
R." Correct! You're the peanut butter"
L." I'm the  peanut butter?"
I smile
R" yeah  your what makes my life good,  worth living!"
L." That is by far the most beautiful thing I ever dun heard"
We hug for a second
R. " right let's go see this fort"

We go up to landos room the boys have actually done a really good job.
  They have tucked sheets into the bars of the top bunk so its fairly large

R." Can we come in"
Shep." Daddy"
Linken " no hes got to know the password "
R." Girls suck!"
Lando " no"
L." Daddy's awesome "
Linken" definitely not "
R." We made dinner"
Linken" close enough "

Shep parts the sheets so we can come in , obviously we have to duck a bit  but its fairly spacious
L." If you want I can bring  lunch in here"
All the kids." Yeah"
L. " linken can you give me a hand"
Lando " me too"
L." Ok you too"
Shep " il go fetch locke"

Shep returns  with locke who pretends to be nonplussed, but I can tell hes slightly impressed
R. " hey how comes hes allowed in without a password"
Shep " hes younger and , he helped us a bit"
I looked to locke he just shrugged  I pat him on the shoulder  I'm proud of what a nice young man hes turning into.
Link and the boys return, links carrying two large plates of sandwiches, linken had a large bottle of soda and plastic cups, and lando has a cuple of bags of chips. Linken, land and shep are on the bottom bunk me and link are on the camp bed and locke is on a bean bag.
We sit and eat our lunch, I'm watching link watch the kids seeing the crumbs going on the floor and bed . It must be driving him insane ,all credit to him hes not showing it.
R." So what you thinking kids ,bowling, lazertag."
Locke ." Yeah can we ring lilly and see if she wants to come"
L." We can but I think shes having a girls day"
Locke. " I'll text her "
We finish our lunch and head out , it works out quite nicely the laser tag place is in the same complex as the mall lilly meets us.
C. " sure you dont want to get your nails done "
Lilly " no I'm good thanks for the new clothes ill see you later"
C" have fun kids and yes that includes you two" she looks at me and link smiling.
Turns out there not busy today so we have the place to ourselves, that's a stroke of luck I love our fans but it makes having fun with our families  extremely difficult. 
R."So how we doing teams"
Lilly. " kids against adults"
L. " 2 against 5 seems fair"
R" we'll be fine let's do this"
We suit up. Me and link in green , the kids in orange.
Got to admit I got into it we played where if you shot someone they we gave them a minute to hide again , I think me and link did pretty good for being so outnumbered, but after half an hour playing we were beat  we are in our 40s . we were crouching behind some hay bails, I sat down stretching my legs ,link sat next to me doing the same I automatically put my arm round him, and he rested his head on my chest, it like we'd been doing it for years. That's when locke comes round the corner, and shoots us both in the chest.
Locke." You two look cosy " he smirks
R." What we're just resting we're getting old"
Locke" I wouldn't worry  from what lillys been telling me, mums been 'resting' with David "
R" who's david"
Locke " you know her personal trainer, ignore me I was kidding"
R." Shes got a personal trainer"
Locke. " mums right you really don't talk"
