-*-*Chapter3*-*-

Cameron quickly brought me hot chocolate. I recognized that smell long before he even reached my new bedroom. The smell of peppermint and chocolate quickly brought back memories I was sure had been forgotten by now.

My father was sitting in his favorite chair near the fire holding a folded newspaper in one hand, and a white glass mug in the other. The glasses he constantly wore sat on the bridge of his nose as he read through the Sports section.

The floorboard creaked where I had just stepped. Dad quickly turned around and smiled at me. I was trying to sneak up on him, just as I had always done in the past. "What are you doing up Marshmallow?" He questioned with his trademark smile. I smiled covering my face with my hands as I walked over to him peeking in between my fingers. "Your mother would be very upset if she found you out here with me. She'd probably blame me for you being up this late," He chuckled as I giggled. He sat his newspaper down scooping me up with one arm and placing me on his lap.

"There are monsters in my room again," I whispered leaning my head onto his chest. He rubbed my arm and kissed the top of my head gently.

"Do you know why there are monsters in your bedroom?" He asked as if there were some sort of secret. I shook my head leaning up to look him in the dark brown eyes. Our shadows danced on the walls around us with the fire's help.

"Do you?" I whispered eager to know why monsters decided to have a nice monster party in my bedroom out of all the other empty rooms in our mansion. He grinned.

"It's because you don't have your 'Monster Be Gone' drink." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"You're making that up!" I said giggling. He laughed shaking his head.

"All the little kids in town have it. You're the only one without it, Marshmallow." He swore nodding his head.

"Well how come I'm the only one without it!?" I complained causing him to laugh again, this time quieter.

"Because you don't like chocolate!" He reminded. I laughed.

"I'm sure I would like it if you would have told me monsters would leave me alone!" I joked. He smiled.

"Well here, have some of my 'Monster Be Gone'. Once they smell it in your little belly, they'll go running and never want to return. Trust me, it works every time." He promised then kissed my cheek. I grinned taking the white glass mug from his hand.

"Anna? Why are you staring at the drink like that? Do you think I've poisoned you?" Cameron's voice snapped me back to reality. I shook my head quickly then let my eyes meet his worried ones. I smiled a little.

"I'm fine. I was just thinking about something..." I replied then took a sip of the hot chocolate. He rose an eyebrow but said nothing.

"Alright, well, I'm heading off to bed now... if you need anything, my room is right down the hall. Just... knock before entering." He answered with a smile. I nodded and stood from the fuzzy white carpet we were sitting on. He stood after I was standing and turned to leave my room leaving the door open.

I had already showered and dressed for bed with the help of their wonderful human house maid, Sandy. She has been really kind to me, and even after I cried my eyes out to her telling her how much I missed home and how I haven't seen an actual human in years, she comforted me and made me feel like everything was going to be alright. The way she assured me made me believe it.

"Knock, knock..." that sexy deep voice called out from behind me as I was placing the mug of hot chocolate on my nightstand. His voice startled me... I hadn't even heard his footsteps coming down the hall. I spun around quickly. The second I was facing the door, a gust of wind blew my hair back and standing less than two centimeters in front of me was Kaine, the mysterious guy with the black eyes. My whole body froze as he caught me from falling back onto the bed. "Surprised?" He asked smiling. Something inside was causing me to want to actually pounce on this demon and let him take me away to La La Land. I'm telling you, his eyes are doing this to me.

"Very," I whispered out of breath a little. He chuckled and took a step back so I could catch my breath. I held my stomach and caught my breath as he stared at me curiously.

"You're really weird." He pointed out. I had been called that in school many times before, so it didn't really bother me. But why was he calling me weird? Because I actually needed to breath?

"I was actually going to bed..." I whispered trying to hint that if he was going to insult me, he could leave. He stared at me a while then cracked a small smile.

"Your father called you Marshmallow, didn't he?" He asked staring deeply into my eyes. My heart stopped. How did he know that?

"What?" I asked taken aback.

"Marshmallow... Isn't that what your father called you as a child?" He repeated taking another step closer to me. I tried to take a step back, but instead, I hit the nightstand and held back the urge to scream out in pain.

"How do you know that?" I asked a bit terrified. He shrugged.

"Goodnight Anna. Sweet dreams." He whispered with a smile painted on his gorgeous face. Suddenly, he disappeared leaving behind that disgusting fog of black smoke. I waved it out of my face and coughed. Suddenly, my bedroom door shut by itself.

I was running. I don't know where, but I needed to get there quick. I was holding a white long gown in one hand and in the other, I was holding a needle that seemed to be full of clear liquid. Medicine perhaps?

I reached the end of a cliff and stared down it. Horrible demonic shrills escaped from down below the cliff where I was standing. The river was pitch black, and the soil around it was a dark red color. I saw tentacles dancing and splashing around in the water seeming to be impatient about something.

Before I could let my thoughts process and figure out what was going on, I slipped the white gown on over my clothes, and stabbed the needle into my forearm injecting the clear liquid into my body. I threw the syringe over the cliff, spread my arms out like wings, and shortly after dropping the syringe, I let myself follow it into the black sea of tentacles and demonic shrills.

My eyes shot open and I let out a scream. A hand quickly covered my mouth causing me to struggle until I realized it was only Cameron. I relaxed a bit, so he let me up.

"You okay? Man, that must have been one hell of a dream!" He joked smiling. I closed my eyes holding my chest trying to get my heart to beat regularly. It was speeding, I thought for sure it was gonna jump out of me chest and run away!

"Have you been watching me this whole time?" I asked letting my eyes meet his blue ones once I finally found my breath. He nodded with a smile.
