Scarlet Freya Wood, is the daughter of the Alpha of the Moonlight pack. She has to eventually take her fathers position as alpha, but she can not do that without a mate. She has yet to find that mate, even after being forced for two years to other packs in hopes of finding him. During the first year of this, she gave up hope and was okay with the idea that she may never find her mate. Scarlet didn't need a guy to make her happy, especially in the 21st century. She can be happy by herself and with her great friends. As she has been since she met her friends when they were only 4 years old. However, tomorrow is Scarlet's 19th birthday. Meaning she is of age to be arranged to an available suitor.
To her, it would still felt like any other day. And Scarlet knew her parents wouldn't ever force her to be mated to someone who wasn't her soulmate. Therefore, she didn't care what happened tomorrow, as long as it was a happy day. But like always, her wolf was full of excitement. Scarlet just shrugged it off, as her wolf regularly was much more excitable and energetic than she was.
As for right now, it is 11 pm. She has no obligations other than to put on some red lipstick and sneak out of the house, she has a pre-celebration to get to. Cleo and Brooke await her downstairs no doubt bantering about who has better music taste. Scarlet applies lipstick, takes a final look at her reflection and leaves her room. Closing her bedroom door as slowly and quietly as possible.
It's great that the packhouse has the rugs throughout, so none of her steps will creak on the hardwood floor. All she has to do is get out the front door and then she will be home free. She makes it past her little brother, Jake's room, able to hear his video games and yelling through the door. She stops worrying about him hearing her steps.
Now to get past her sister's room. But walking past Jake's room causes Lunar to investigate the steps outside her door thanks to her fierce hearing abilities. Lunar opens the door slowly rubbing her red eyes. "Scar, where are you going, its curfew"? Lunar says holding a lit-up phone beeping profusely. "I'm heading out for a run is all. Aren't you gonna answer that"? Scarlet replies to her sister looking down at the phone. Lunar quickly puts her hand holding the phone behind her back as it beeps once more.
"Lunar, you haven't gotten any sleep yet, have you? Is it those girls again?" Scarlet asks her sister in an apprehensive and caring tone, willing to give up tonight if it is to stay up with her sister and make her some tea so they can talk through it again. Scarlet takes a step towards her little sister who's head now hangs low. "Scar it's ok I'll be fine, go out to the party tonight, I can hear Cleo and Brooke are starting to worry and get restless outside." Scarlet stands up straighter and steps back again no longer going to give Lunar a hug just in case it breaks the good face her little sister is putting on at the moment. "Ok, I love you and put it on silent so you can get some sleep." Scarlet smiles at her sister and walks down the stairs to the front door.
Closing the front door and locking it with the code gives the faintest click that it shouldn't be heard by anyone in the house besides her sister. Scarlet turns around and walks around the corner of the packhouse to meet up with her girl-friends. Seeing them makes a smile grow on Scarlet's face and she gives a small wave. Both girls give her their signature hellos and motioned for her to get a move on or else they will be late.
The three girls get in Cleo's car is much quieter than Brooke's black 1969 ford mustang. Cleo expertly pulls out of the driveway, not making a sound as they drive off. "You should have let me drive, we could have done a burnout out there" Brooke pipes up from the backseat, looking into the rear-view mirror at Cleo. "And that is the exact reason we didn't let you drive, you would have woken up everyone in the packhouse" Cleo replies to Brooke not taking her eyes off the road for more than a second. Cleo is the safe driver of the two. But the little friendly banter makes Scarlet laugh at her friends. They haven't changed since the beginning.
~A few minutes later~
The three girls get out of the car and begin walking to the party Cleo put together in the middle of the woods. As they walked the light of a huge bonfire began to grow as did the yelling and laughter of the surrounding teens. Some standing close to the fire roasting things like hot dogs or marshmallows on sticks found nearby. Others stood in a group around a boy doing a keg stand.
The scene in front of the girls was that of a teenage daydream of the perfect party. The only thing missing from the girl's entrance was the boys, Alexander and Bash. Alex is Cleo's mate and the betas son. He and I have been friends since we were born because he will be my beta as well. Bash is Brookes mate and sadly an orphan, so he doesn't really talk much but they still love having him around and wouldn't want him to be left out.
Now that the whole group is here the party could commence, as would the copious drinking well into the night.
