You are standing. That is the first thing that you register. You do not know why you are standing, but you suspect that it is because there is nowhere to sit. On that thought, you start to look around. At a first glance, there is nothing to see here. When you look again however, you can tell that it isn't a 'nothing' nothing, where there was quite literally nothing to see. It's not The Void, where it's an endless blackhole of nothingness, calling you to fall in it for eternity. It's not the Anti-Void either, where everything is a blinding white that sears the eyes of those unused to it. If you'd have to explain, you'd call it a 'something' nothing, where it's clear there is something here, just nothing that you might find interesting or important. When you focus your vision, you can make out artificial light surrounding you, as well as a wooden floor beneath your feet. You wonder where the light is coming from, but when you look up, you only see more light.

You realise that you are in an empty room, perhaps an unused storage room. You make an attempt to move to explore your surroundings, but you find that you cannot, as if there is something restricting you from doing so. Somewhere in your mind, you feel that you should be feeling immensely scared from these strange events. Even stranger however is that it feels normal, as if you've done this many times before, just in a different way. You try to remember who you are, and why you are here in this strange, empty place. Then the answer comes to you, and everything begins to make sense.

You are in the universe of an author's story, although you suspect that you might be outside Space and Time. As for your name, you are The Eyes, a being created by the author of this story. You are the link from this universe to the universe of the audience. You are, quite literally, their eyes for the story. Other things begin to click as well. You cannot move because you haven't been told to. You only move according to the script. Although, there is a feeling in your mind that makes you suspect that the script isn't ready yet, and that you're not supposed to be here yet.
While you are remembering these things, you start to feel a presence in your mind. Your memories tell you that it's the presence of a being looking through your perspective. In other words, it's the audience. You can tell that, as time progresses, there will be many more of them, all curious as to what this story contains.

While you are lingering over these facts, strange 'crash' and 'clang' noises sound from behind you. This should startle you, but you can't be startled if you don't have feelings to be startled in the first place. You tap your head at that, as you feel it is the most appropriate action to take. Instead, you attempt a 180 degree turn to face the source of the noise. What you find is a large figure, covered in a long black cloak. You try to describe them, but curiously enough, you find that the correct words seemed to have been blocked from your memory. You stare at the figure some more, trying to see under their hood. The figure's face is covered, but you get the feeling that they are smiling at you. Or rather, they are smiling at the audience. You do not feel insulted, as you don't have any feelings to insult.

"Hello there, new readers!" The figure greets with a high female voice, warmth and cheer bursting from it. Inside you, you can feel 'gasps' of recognition. You take a guess and think that there are beings in the audience who have recognized this figure. At the same time, you can tell that there are others who are still confused at who this strange figure could be.

"Welcome to A SkeleTON of Mystery: The Reincarnation! Allow me to introduce..."
"T-Dude!"

You look at where the figure is gesturing to. You can see a comfortable red plush chair, one so comfortable that you could sink into it if you sat on it. On it is a small wool figurine of a smiling skeleton wearing a well-worn blue jacket with black pants. It seems very familiar to you, and you can tell that the audience already know who this figure is based on. Upon seeing your gaze, the female figure looks at the chair as well. They look bewildered to see the plush toy. With a huff, they grab the toy and snapping her fingers, makes it disappear.
