There once was a doggie
He ran wild and free
We carved his name
Into his treeHe was born to a kelpie
Raised to herd sheep
But something wasn't right
He was too hard to keepNo one would buy him
He was too small
No one would take him
No one at allHis owners will drown him
A worthless dog
Was this the end
Of this ex-sheepdogTell me he's crazy
Tell me he's stupid
But I don't careHe may be lazy
He may be silly
But we love them bothIt doesn't matter
What they are
We love them bothBut along came two humans
One quite small
Pointed to him and his brother
We'll take them bothThus began his life
As Sparky
Running around
Our PropertyThey lived alone
Not another dog
He was careful
Even in the fogFor fourteen long years
He lived happily
But one day he died
Quite suddenlyTell me he's crazy
Tell me he's stupid
But I don't careHe may be lazy
He may be silly
But we love them bothIt doesn't matter
What they are
We love them
We love them
We love them bothThere once was a doggie
He ran wild and free
We carved his name
Into his tree
