Bird Of Ash

A bird of ash from the bay

Fell on a stack of hay,

It met the ground with a crash

Wounding its grand wings of ash,

Its weakened wings a sad sight

As the sky pitied its tragic plight.

A stoic face the passersby wear

As they pass by without a care,

Lying there the bird cried

Until its tears fully dried.

A little girl stopped by its side

Her hair flowing like the tides,

Fallen tears full of empathy

Eyes shining with sympathy,

She cupped her little palm

As she hopped the bird grew warm.

And she took it home

Under the bright blue dome,

Where the healed bird roamed

Until it flapped its wings,

And took off to a flight

Into the embrace of light.
