Chapter 6: Safe in his Arms

He looked like a distressed man, he was in his 30s or 40s and he was a very clean cut man, He had on a nice suit, too nice for this scene he was in. His eyes were gray, and his hair was brown and slicked back.
"Connor I thought we said no girls allowed." He said looking at my every move.
"Oh I'm sorry. We were just leaving now don't worry" I said trying to cover for Connor.
"No you're fine sweetheart. Why is such a sweet beautiful girl hanging with a delinquent like Connor? hmm?" He said smiling at me.
"Because... I like him." Was all I could say, not anything extravagant but it shocked the man, and it shocked Connor.
"You like him? You should look for guys more like me. You should look for me." He was grabbing my hand now and I swear I was about to cry, I grabbed on to Connor so tight.
"Please leave us alone. I need to get maddie home. okay Joe we need to go" Joe was his stepdads name I guessed,
"Maddie? Such a beautiful name. I can take her home" Joe started to pull me. Trying to get me somewhere. So much happened in that moment. Everyone was yelling and then punches were thrown and joe was on the ground, but it was only a matter of time before he got back up because he looked at me as if he were a lion, and I were fresh meat.
Connor grabbed my hand and we ran out of the room with Joe, now chasing us. I was wearing running shoes which was good because Connor and I ran fast, out of the building fast. Joe did not stop chasing us until we both got onto the train and the door closed shut.
I was balling now into Connors chest and he just rubbed my back saying it's okay. I knew I was safe in his arms, but I was still so scared. So scared that Joe man would hurt us, hurt me, but more importantly hurt Connor when he would go home.
"Connor you need to sleep at my house tonight. Please you cannot walk back into that house, or go near there. okay?"
I expected him to argue but he looked so scared, something I had never seen. "Okay" he just replied, and he squeezed me tighter than ever before. I was safe in his arms.
