Chapter 1: Freakshow

Mother and Toby survived on human scraps and made a den in the only place where there were trees and water. Mother wasn't a good hunter but when Toby hunted, they'd eat a mouse or bird. It was winter, then spring, then summer, and now early fall again.

Toby was almost an adult. He's stubborn and can be nervous at times. Sometimes he would be suddenly full of anger. Some of the other stray cats nicknamed him Storm-eyes because of his eyes, that showed his emotions. Like how a storm brings sorrow and anger to the world, he brings sorrow and anger to himself.

Mother was much different. She tried to keep herself motivated and happy. She was almost never anger. Each day she tried her best at life, and all she wanted was to enjoy life while she could. When Toby did something wrong, mother didn't punish him. All mother wanted was for Toby to be happy though she didn't hang out with him very much.

Mother and Toby still lived together.Mother and Toby met many other cats living outside in the city. Some were rude, fierce and hostile, while others were kind, smart and selfless. Mother had made great friends. But no matter who they meet, Toby never found his place in the city. Nothing was right for him. Many seemed to strongly dislike him. Even hate him.

Toby had learned something his mother had never taught him in the mansion. There are three sets of instincts that a cat or dog can have; Wildblood, Alleyblood, and Ownedblood. A Wildblood is a cat or dog that can fight and hunt excellenty. In times of need they will form together to make a team when they can be cooperative with each other. They are more territorial.If put in the wild thin and starving, they can out strong after less than a month. They are also romantic. Cats with these instincts usually like water. They were called silent killers and the lovely hearted.

An Alleyblood is a cat or dog that can fight well but aren't too good at hunting. They are able to consume most human foods. They are used to being thin and starved. They are born extremely dependent on others or extremely independent even in times of need. Some can try being romantic, some stay far away from others.

Ownedbloods are cats and dogs with the easy life. They can tolerate humans. They sometimes know human terms and share their knowledge about humans to others. Like Wildbloods, before going to vet to stop it, are really romantic. They can tolerate cat food given by humans.

The set of instincts they get depend on their parents. If their parents were Alleybloods then their kittens or puppies would be Alleybloods for an example. But if, for example, the mother was a Wildblood and the father was an Alleyblood, their descendants' instincts could go either way, like if they had two descendants, one could be a Wildblood and the other, an Alleyblood.

Toby learn mother was an Ownedblood so he was left believing his father was also an Ownedblood, and so he identifies as an Ownedblood. Although he identifies as an Ownedblood, he has a job for the city's cat colony. His job is hunt since he was a talent for hunting.

Right now, Toby was searching for food on a warm autumn night. He ignored the trash that was on the floor and dumpsters, hoping he would find a delicious mouse.

There were millions of humans around. So many empty alleyways that Toby wish would go away. Though it was like this every night, Toby never got use to it.He hated it. Why do they have to be here? They're the reason my siblings died. Toby had the same thought every night. It's not like they need to be here. It was always lonely with all of them in the stars and with mother always going out. Toby always caught some humans looking at him, though most never helped him in anyway, not even trying. When they did try he always growled, swing a paw at them and ran into alleyways near by.
