Not my proudest chapter; hence the chapter name.

Toby and his new friends were running to what they thought was south until they ran out of breathe. It seemed like a while before that happened, but when it did, they came to a stop. They had reached the ocean. Annie dipped her head and started to drink the water.

"Don't you taste the salt in it?" Bronx barked.

" Yeah and I don't care," Annie mumbled.

" Don't you know how much stuff is in there?" Bronx asked. " Like human-"

" Of course," Annie mewed. " And I still don't care. I'm just thirsty."

" Oh well," Bronx sighing. Then he whispered to Toby, " she's a proud, independent cat and is always confident. Don't mind her when she doesn't care at all."

Toby nodded. " She's even more independent than most males I've met," Toby whispered back.

" I heard you two," Annie said as she lifted her head. " Okay I'm done. Let's go." They all walked beside the salty water. Then Kya stopped dead on her tracks.

Toby turned around to her. "What's wrong?"

" If we want to go south, we should go west first," Kya said. " My reason for that is because we are on a small piece of land surrounded by water so unless we go back and follow the road we were at when we found you, we have no way of getting to the place we want to go."

"Why didn't you say so earlier?" Bronx asked.

" I didn't think of it before," Kya shrugged.

"If Mother is there, I'm done for," Toby sighed.

" Then let's hurry," Annie mewed.

They had started running when they came upon a male brown tabby with eyes big and black. He must've been blind. He also had a collar also that was red.

The brown tabby was elderly too. He was walking but he was stumbling as he did. Toby could see no wound on him so he wasn't limping from that possibility. His fur was ruffled up the wrong way and dirty.

He hasn't had a good bath, Toby thought.

Toby walked up to him. " What are you doing here?"

" Oh hi," the cat rasped. " I can't see you but I can hear."

" You must be an elderly cat," Toby commented.

" 17 years yep," the cat mumbled. " You'all must be youngsters by your scent."

" 1 year almost," Toby replied.

" You starving?" the cat rasped.

" Thin and skinny," Toby answered.

" My owner has some cat food," the cat mewed. " You come with me and maybe you won't be starving."

" No thanks," Toby said.

" Go figure. You okay? "

" One of my better days. My best side."

"Interesting. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but I heard you talking about some place in the south with some friends."

Toby was kind of surprised. " Yeah, we're heading towards there."

" I've been down south before. It was beautiful you know."

" But-"

" I wasn't born blind. I just recently got a disease that caused me to be blind. It didn't happen recently ethier."
