ᴘᴀʀᴛ ᴇɪɢʜᴛ: ᴜɴᴇxᴘᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ ɴᴇᴡ ғʀɪᴇɴᴅs

You wake up the next week since the texting toboggle happened. You feel refreshed and new. You try to put a lot of effort into your outfit today as you're trying to impress. You kiss your mom and dad goodbye as you head for the bus. When you arrive at the bus you're surprised to see Alex sitting with a boy this time, the boy that fell asleep in class your first day, Aksel. You notice that Vanessa was sitting alone, you decide to take the seat right next to her.

When you sit down she looks at you for a couple of seconds then seems to lose interest fast. You start taking out your pop tart that was smashed into your zip lock bag until you hear sobbing.

"Alex broke up with me today" Vanessa unexpectedly cries to you.

"Good morning to you too" you respond back

"He did it last night! He said that he didn't feel emotionally ready to have a girlfriend!!!" She scream cries into your shoulder.

"Hey, hey calm down okay? Its not the end of the world? There are plenty of fish in the sea." You say to her trying to calm her down.

"I just feel so empty! I wasn't able to talk to Roxanne or Bethany about this! They totally wanna snag Alex for themselves! It feels so good being able to tell someone, Y/N" She responds to you, quietly this time.

I have literally known you for a day 

You comfort her as you wait for the bus to drop the students off at the school.

The school breaks off at the entrance as all the students hop off. You entered the school doing your newly routine. (All in between of classes, Daisy coming up scream-talking to you.) You leave your last class till lunch time comes around. You take your brown paper bag out of your locker and start heading down, Daisy by your side. When you enter the lunch room going to the table you and Daisy have been sitting alone you see someone waving at you.

Vanessa

You motion a "one minute" sign to Daisy as you go over to Vanessa to see what she wants.

"Heyyy best friend!!" Vanessa screams at you.

"Why don't you and Daisy sit with us today?" She adds on while motioning a girl to move out of the way.

You don't think anything of it and motion Daisy to come over. You and Daisy sit down and start eating lunch till you're interrupted by Vanessa.

"Sooo, you find any guy cute yet?" She asks intriguing.

"Not really." You lie straight to her.

"But Y/N don't you find Alex attra-" Daisy pinches in until you hit her making her shut up.

"ALEX?? EW!!! Why him??" She says making a disgusted face.

"Didn't he break up with you?" You say confused.

"Oh about that, I kinda lied to make you feel empathy so you could feel more comfortable sitting here. It looked like it worked!" She responds back giggling.

"Truth was he never had time for me, and if he didn't have time for me he definitely wouldn't have time for you." She smugly responds back.

You ignore her comment and look behind you seeing Alex and Aksel with their group of boys. While starring you and Alex connect eyes for a second. You instantly turn back. You thought about the fact that you've already been attracted to him for a week, and known him for a week. Before you moved you and your girl friends had a book of rules called the girl code were which every girl had to follow. You specifically remember rule #5 being to never go for your friends ex. It didn't matter who broke up with who, if your friend wasn't together with them anymore, they were off limits. You try to think on the plus side of things! You'd be friends with Vanessa!

Not really a plus, but it would do.
