The Left Path

Chapter Four

About an hour passed, they seemed to forget about where they were going, if they were going to get anywhere that is. They all walked and joked with each other until there was a large opening in sight. "Guys, look!" Tayila said in awe and she ran over to the opening as the others followed. "Whoa.." Natalie said as they all started to get closer. When the whole view was in sight, they all looked around at a large field. The 3 foot tall grass was pale green and thin, as beautiful flowers came in sight. "Look how pretty!" Tayila exclaimed with pure joy as she bent down to look at the flowers. The wind was slightly blowing and the sky was pale blue. The air smelled like freshly cut mown, even though obviously the grass hasn't been cut in awhile. "It's so pretty!" Natalie said looking at the flowers with Katie and Tayila. Christina began to look above the flowers, she saw a small two story house, a little bit farther down in the field but still clearly visible. It looked old.. Like from 1930's or so. "Hey guys, look.." Christina said as she pointed at the house. "Maybe it's abandoned?" Katie said puzzled. "We won't know until we find out" Tayila said starting to make her way to the house. The others stayed close to each other following. Once they got in front of the house, the grass became a bit shorter. "It looks abandoned.." Katie said slowly. Just then a small gust of wind blew, sounding a wind chime on the outside it the house. Natalie turned to see the wind chime, but it wasn't your average wind chime. "What the hell?!" She exclaimed frightened by the wind chime in the shape of a circle with a star drawn in it. "What the hell is this, the house of satan? I told you this was a bad idea!" Natalie said and she backed away from the house. "Relax!" Christina started. "It's called a pentacle-"
"You mean a pentagram." Natalie angrily corrected her. "No, a pentagram is just the star part. The circle around it makes it a pentacle. It's not a bad sign, it's actually a good sign, it's protection and besides, if stands for the elements." She started to draw a star shape with her finger. "Earth, Spirit, Water, Air, Fire." They all looked at Christina like she had two heads. "What? I study that kinda stuff! Isn't it interesting? An inverted pentagram is the bad one." Natalie started to calm down. "Whatever you say Miss Witch." Just then, a black cat appeared. Christina loves cats. "Oh my god, hi there beautiful!" She said bending down as the cat ran to her. "Hi! Awh you're so pretty.." She said as she began to pet her. Katie watched "aww she's so cute!"
"How do you know its a she" Tayila joked. The cat began to purr. All of a sudden, a small figure appeared, "I see you found Cinder." The voice said.
