they were screaming. shrill, horrifying screams of pain and terror. their eyes seemed to sink into their sockets and their mouths. oh, their mouths. they were gaping open with sharp, pointy rows of teeth.

amasa shrieked and closed his eyes, sharply turning his head so that he was facing huginn instead of the tv. sure, he probably tasted blood in his food almost everyday, thanks to dominic. but topics like the dead and such still freaked him out. huginn looked somewhat amused with amasa's reaction, but he did sling his arm around amasa's shoulder and pull him close.

dominic wasn't even watching the movie. his eyes were fixed on his phone as he lounged on the couch of the mansion they were residing in. thanks to stealing money from the CEO's he killed, dominic easily managed to get his hands on a house like the one he was in right now. his arm was tossed over the armrest while his hand scrolled through his messages. no, he wasn't texting. there were a lot of people that still owed him things, and they did stupid things out of fear which they needed his help for. the only reason he helped was because he knew that he got to kill them later. they had signed their fate when they first saw him with their very own eyes.

he had gotten down to an interesting message. he raised a brow as he read it, tilting his head to the side as he did. amasa had been dominic's stepbrother long enough to know that whenever dominic tilted his head, it meant that he was amused or that he was probably about to murder someone. in this case, it was both.

amasa peered over huginn and glanced at dominic, wondering who managed to get on his stepbrother's bad side this time. "who is it?" he asked, his voice lowered to a mere whisper. huginn had turned the volume of the movie down to hear dominic's answer. even he was interested in this, since he could fight just fine.

the sound effects from the movie turned to a low hum in the background as dominic finally finished reading the lengthy threat message on his phone. "someone's got dante." he spoke casually, rising to his feet. "i'll go get him back. amasa, lock all the windows and doors." after that, he turned to huginn and gave him a long, hard look, basically telling him to keep amasa and himself safe and out of danger.

dominic set out in the direction of his destination. according to the threat he received, they were in a warehouse somewhere nearby. it was the same all the time, every victim of his thought that they had a chance. he proved them all wrong in a matter of a few minutes. he slid his phone into his project, deciding that these people would be easy to manipulate, as he had done it before already.

the lights were dim, and the room was empty except for a boy sitting across from dominic, head bent over and on his knees. dante glanced up at his older brother, eyes wide and fearful. his hands were tied behind his back with rope and his feet were tied together as well. his mouth was taped shut, and the tape was bound to fall off soon. this looked extremely childish to dominic. the older man stepped forward, and a gun clicked somewhere in the dark.

"take one more step and i'll shoot." the man threatened, his voice low. he stepped out of the darkness, his gun held in front of him, his hand next to the trigger. he couldn't fall prey to a serial killer, right? he had his men and a gun. he'd shoot soon enough.

"don't worry. i'm not getting any closer to him." dominic told the man, his hands hanging limply by his sides. "but i want to talk to you." he simply brought his hand up and beckoned the man over to him, waiting for him to come. if not, he could easily bring his dagger out. that would get him over much faster.

the man looked over at him suspiciously, but stepped over anyway, his gun still held in the direction of dominic's head. "get this over with quickly. i'll give you the boy of you give me the ransom i asked for." as soon as he finished speaking, dominic had his dagger at the man's throat, tilted at an angle that would kill with a simple flick of his fingers. many other men emerged from the shadows, obviously panicked but didn't make a move, seeing that their leader would suffer for their mistakes.

"drop the gun." dominic ordered, his voice soft so that only the man in front of him would hear. the man reluctantly let go of his gun, and the clatter of the object against the warehouse floor broke the silence in the room. he nodded in approval, leaning over to speak. "now, hand me the boy."

the man frowned, trying to tilt his head away from the dagger. "you are clearly outnumbered here. you may get the boy, but my men will kill you." he seemed content with his reply to dominic, a cocky grin on his face. that was a horrible choice of words to say to an active serial killer.

"if you do as much as lay another finger on that boy," dominic started, his voice low and menacing. a dark grin took over his face as he leaned over so that he was across from the man's ear, "i will make your life a living hell. i will sit upon a throne of the skulls of your men, watching as your blood pours out of your fresh wounds. i will watch with glee as your cries for help go unheard by the ones around you, and you will suffer for eternity in a dark place, shackled to the ground with chains wrapped around your throat. alone."

the man stumbled back in surprise, and that moment was all dominic needed to slit his throat. the man's men shrieked in surprise, and all of the, dashed for the door. they were cowards, they were weak without one to lead them to their own doom. dominic watched as they left the warehouse, his eyes hard and cold like always. "dante, get up." he told his brother, his eyes still on the open doors of the warehouse.

dante staggered up, using the wall as a support and looked back up as dominic started to untie the rope around his legs and hands. dante was finally able to rip the tape off his mouth and he shuddered at the chilly air in the room. "i should've brought a coat." he sighed, glancing up at dominic with a grin.

dominic grinned back, handing dante his sweatshirt. he had known dante long enough to create a bond with him, so smiling around his brother was something he was used to. "come on," he started in the direction of the warehouse exit, "let's go home."

and behind them, the two brothers left a dead man that had blood pooling from his throat.
alone.
