I don't have much of an explanation for how is came out of my brain.
She lived just on the other side around the bend. No one would see him out here. The soft light coming from the lake side houses wasn't enough to give away his cover. Some would say it was a bit odd, all this just to catch a glimpse of someone you didn't even know the name of. He had been like this for awhile now. Every night since he first saw her.
But tonight was different. He would get her tonight. He had been visiting nearly every night for a few months now. He cared so much for her simple soul. She may not know it yet but she wanted him- NO- needed him. As he rounded the corner, he could faintly make out a moving figure in her house. A look of anticipation crossed his face. It had to be her. She lived alone and rarely had family over. The last time he saw someone with her was around Christmas when, what he assumed was family, stayed the weekend.
He decided to make his approach, deciding there was no better time than the present. He had been planning this. He was prepared. Her place was easy enough to navigate. He had scoped out the premises a few nights prior while she was at work. This would be easy.
As he neared her dock, there was movement from the other side of the building. This wasn't normal. She was already in her room preparing for bed. This movement shouldn't be there. The figure who caused the commotion on the other side of the house became more prominent as it neared her bedroom. A man. It was a man. Why was there a man. This wasn't part of the plan. He would just have to come back. His plan would only succeed if she was alone.
He turned the boat back towards his house. So close. How had this happened. It wasn't supposed to be like this. She was always alone. Why was today the one time she wasn't. No matter, he would just come back. No matter how frustrating this small set back was, he would have her.
Trudging into his house, there was an eery silence. Oh home sweet home. He had forgotten to feed the pets earlier. Feeling rather charitable, he grabbed a container and headed to the basement. As soon as he opened the door, he hear the pets scurrying around their cages. He chuckled. 'They missed me' he thought. Making he way towards the first encasement, he admired his specimen. He had gotten her a few months ago. She was his first. She was tall and sickly thin with a thick head of brown hair. Not your typical beauty, but an easy target. He moved to the other cages, tossing them each a piece of meat. He had 5 now. He would soon have 6. He would have her.
