| CHAPTER FIVE |WE WERE FORGOTTEN.
CAMP REDWOOD WAS DEFINITELY CREEPY.Phoebe stayed close to Bobby's side as they carefully walked further into the camp, passing an old wood chipper; which was caked in old blood, before reaching the large stage where a concert in 1989 was scheduled to happened but never did due to a massacre in the camp.
Phoebe's eyes wandered around the stage. It was absolutely destroyed. The posters were torn up, the stage itself had a large hole in it and the whole structure that kept it together was covered in rust. She heard Bobby's phone clicking as he snapped a photograph of the messed up stage, his eyes looking at it with wonder.
"I guess it's true what they say," Phoebe commented as they walked past the stage and into the more foresty area of the camp. Bobby glanced down at her as she spoke, "People really did just forget about this place."
He nodded, holding his phone back up to snap some more photos, "Looks like it," He sighed.
"What's that?"
The sudden sound of an unknown feminine voice spooked the pair. Bobby quickly pushed Phoebe behind himself as they came face to face with an unfamiliar blonde woman.
The woman was a lot more blonde than Phoebe herself, her hair was almost a white blonde whereas Phoebe's had more darker tones in it. The unknown female also wore clothes and had make-up that looked like it came straight from the 80s and her presence made Phoebe feel unsettled, 'how did she get behind them without them hearing her footsteps?' Phoebe thought to herself, the amount of leaves and twigs on the ground would've given the woman away way before her voice did.
"In your hand," She added, nodding at the iPhone in Bobby's right hand.
"Uh, it's my phone."
The blonde scoffed, "That's not a phone."
Phoebe and Bobby shared confused looks.
"Are-are you amish or something?" Bobby questioned.
"Bobby!" Phoebe exclaimed, hitting his arm gently.
The blonde chuckled but stepped closer. She sent Phoebe a large smile before she glanced back at Bobby, "Can I?" Without waiting for an answer she took the iPhone out of his palm, "Oh, shit," She gasped, "That's rad."
Phoebe looked confused at the unknown blonde when she began tapping the screen violently; clearly not knowing how to use the device.
"What year is this?" The blonde questioned, looking back up from the phone.
"Are you serious?" Bobby questioned, looking confused.
"Just tell me, asshole."
Phoebe snorted and pushed Bobby out of the way, coming face to face with the blonde, "Don't mind him. He doesn't think before he talks," Both blondes chuckled, "It's 2019."
The smile fell from the unknown woman's face, "Oh, my God. You're the first new people I've seen here in, like, forever," She said looking between the pair, "After that shit show in '89, I began to notice a lot less people were coming into camp," She frowned, "Not even the hard-core death tourists. Few years later, nobody. We were forgotten. Something else must have gotten their attention," She glanced back at the phone, "Now I know what."
"I'm sorry, were you even alive in 1989?" Bobby asked, "And-and you said 'we'. Who-who else is here?"
The blonde glanced around the camp, her expression suddenly turning to a horror-stricken one, "You two have got to get out of here," She said sending Bobby and Phoebe a pointed look, "You're in danger. Everyone you see here is likely to kill you."
"Including you?" Phoebe questioned as Bobby placed his hand on her back tenderly.
A smile suddenly appeared on the blonde's face, "Can I keep this?" She asked, holding Bobby's iPhone up.
Phoebe shared a knowing look with Bobby; they had silently come to a conclusion; the woman was mentally ill and somehow stumbled into the camp.
"No," Bobby stated, snatching the phone back from the woman.
"Do you need us to call you someone?" Phoebe questioned, looking at the woman with a polite smile, "Someone to come and pick you up?"
The blonde shook her head, "No thanks," She smiled, "Everyone I ever loved is right here."
Phoebe really didn't know what the woman had meant by that - neither did Bobby - but maybe there were people living in the camp, homeless or mentally ill people that found their home in these abandoned cabins.
"Well, we're not leaving, not until I get some answers," Bobby added, "I'm trying to find out what happened to my father. I know he was here."
"Your father?"
Bobby nodded, "My name is Bobby Richter."
The woman with the bright blue eye shadow looked stunned, "Bobby," She breathed out causing both Phoebe and Bobby to share strange looks with one another, "You're Mr. Jingles' son." With that, the unknown female threw her arms around Bobby's neck, bringing him into a hug as he stuff still, looking utterly puzzled.
