"It's crap I know," Steve confronted while waiting for Nancy's answer to his work.
Nancy turns away from the pages which lay on her thighs to face Steve.
"No, it's not crap." Nancy smiles trying to comfort Steve. He turned away in disbelief.
"Well..." Steve takes a pause and starts tapping on the steering wheel. "It's not good" Steve finishes.
"But it will be. It just needs... some reorganizing" Nancy lied, it wasn't very good. Steve scoffed at the remark and soon the conversation had drifted away from his mind.Steve soon snapped out of his trance to the sound of a car pulling up next to him blasting out music. Steve focused on the car to see that It was a blue Camaro. He tried to see who was inside but the sun was beaming off the car making it hard for Steve to see anything in front of him. Just like on queue a person opened the door reflecting the sunlight into Steve's eyes, forcing him to cover his eyes. The person slammed the door shut as if to indicate to Steve that it was okay to look again. There stood a male that Steve didn't recognize, he had curly blond hair, that's all he could make out as the male was facing the opposite way. The male puffed out cigarette smoke and turned around which allowed Steve to examine more. He wore double denim which surprised Steve as most people find wearing double a crime. Steve cursed under his breath thinking about how unfair it was. The guy that stood in front of him actually looked good in double denim, unlike Steve who had tried the style before. He didn't realize how much he was staring until the male stared back. Ocean blue eyes pierced through Steve's body, they smirked enjoying the attention they got from him. Steve quickly jolted his eyes away in embarrassment, a light flush covering his cheeks. Nancy leaned closer to Steve to try to catch a glimpse of the person which everyone seemed obsessed about but she couldn't see anything.
"Who was that?" Nancy asked but Steve didn't reply. Instead, he got out of the car and stared off into the distance and watched the mysterious man walk away leaving everyone to sit and stare. Nancy followed Steve out of the car worried about his strange behaviour. She tapped him on the shoulder gently. "Are you alright?" Steve jumped slightly at the sudden contact. Steve cleared his throat turning his attention to Nancy. "Who does that guy think he is, coming here like he owns the place?" Nancy asked.
"Yeah, why does everyone seem so fixated on him?" Steve retorted.
"You were one of the people staring you know" Nancy teased. Steve looked at her shocked. Was he really looking at him for that long?
"S-shut up, no I wasn't." Steve Denied helplessly. "I was just curious about who he was." Steve defends himself. Nancy laughed at the blatant lie and dragged Steve into the school.Luckily his first class was basketball so he could take his mind away from the new guy. By the time he got to the changing room, everyone had already left. He sighed as he quickly changed and started running to the basketball court. He slammed the door open, somehow barging into someone.
"Oi, watch it there pretty boy!" Strange. Steve didn't recognize their voice from his class. He looked up only to be met by ocean blue eyes. "Are you gonna stand there forever? I need to get to class." The man rolls his eyes.
"Who the hell are you?" Steve accidentally asked out loud.
"I'm Billy, Billy Hargrove. Let me guess, you want my number too". Billy winks at him making him scoff.
"Yeah right, dickhead, why would I want your number?" Steve questioned.
"The way you stared at me before in the parking lot tells me otherwise," Billy smirked, Steve didn't reply. Instead, he barged past Billy earning a wolf whistle in response. Steve ignored it and walked towards the court.Everyone was ready for the game to start. Steve stopped and watched everyone turn towards him. "Harrington, why are you just standing there? Hurry up!" The coach shouted in annoyance.
"Sorry sir, I just ran into something..." he said running towards the coach. "Now that we are all here I've got an announcement. We have a new student on the basketball team, so be on your best game. Especially you Harrington. You better hope that he doesn't beat you and take your place." Steve tutted in annoyance before Billy entered.
"Hey," Billy walked in ruffling his hair "I've heard good things about you guys, better not disappoint." Billy stared right at Steve indicating most of it was pointed at Steve. 'You cocky bastard' Steve thought to himself. He smirked and waiting for the game to begin but his smile slowly changed. Billy was thrashing the team all by himself, until finally, Steve got the ball and of course he was getting blocked by no other than Billy."When I came to this school the first thing I heard about was this so-called king Steve, the person they'd all die for. I got my hopes up, but now that he's right in front of me I feel disappointed. Where is this king Steve?! All I can see is a little princess." This made Steve furious and that's exactly what Billy wanted. As Billy was expecting someone better, he was going around asking about what sort of weaknesses Steve had, and he happened to come across Tommy which told him that when Steve was angry he couldn't think straight. It happened many times when Jonathan was always clinging next to Nancy. Steve could barely drive straight. So when going against Steve it is easy. Billy didn't realize how much it worked until he took the ball from Steve. As he took the ball off him Steve fell harshly onto the floor. Billy didn't even realize till he scored and turned back. "Better luck next time princess," Billy says walking towards the showers.
Steve groaned slowly standing up from the sweaty floor, feeling a sharp pain in his side. He staggered towards the showers gripping onto his right side in agony but instantly pulled it away when he saw Billy. Steve slowly walked past Billy trying to ignore the pain. As he walked past he caught a glimpse of Billy's abs while he changed out of his T-shirt. 'Do girls really like abs that much?' Steve thought in his head. Steve sat down on the bench and started changing out of his sweaty clothes. Once he was done he headed towards the shower. In each changing room, the mirrors are always next to the showers so on the way Steve stopped to check himself out. His hair was a mess, sweat ran down his forehead and pain was written all over his face. Was this what it was like to be dethroned? No, I won't bow down to him. Steve shook away his thoughts and carried on walking towards the showers. Billy stood there washing the soap out of his hair. Steve walked over and heard Billy snicker. Steve ignored him and turned the shower on.
"Better luck next time," Billy says poking Steve's side. He screams out in pain, flinching away from Billy. "The fucks wrong with you Harrington?" Billy asks.
"I'm fine" Steve responds holding back the tears that threatened to fall down his cheek. Billy raised his eyebrow. "Doesn't look like it."
"Why do you care?" Steve asked lightly aggravated. Billy sighed, leaving the subject. They stayed in silence neither one wanting to bother the other. As Billy was walking towards the exit he lightly tapped his shoulder leaning in and whispering "I think you need to get that checked out," with a hint of concern. Steve was left by himself, he finished washing his hair and walked back to change. His vision was getting blurry, he sluggishly put on his pants before collapsing onto the floor, his eyes slowly closing.
