19. Milo

Jaxson

By 8pm me and Ava had made up the greatest love  story and had all the details memorized.

She's cooking a late dinner and Bella is helping me finish my office. "Do you think Penelope's okay?" she asks me. I smile at her "Penelope's a strong girl, she just needs time to feel better" I tell her.

"I'm going to draw her a picture so she can feel better faster" she grins at the thought. "I think she will like that."

The door bell rings just as I give Bella paper and some highliters. I'm surprised when I open the door and it's Milo.

"Oh, hey Jaxson!" he says to me. For some reason he looks nervous. "Hey man is everything okay?" I ask him and he nods.

"Yeah I'm actually here to speak to Ava." Ava? What does he need to talk to her about?

"AVA!" I yell for her. She comes from the kitchen wearing pajama pants and a graphic tee.

It's different because she's always dressed so professional. She still has her makeup done to hide the bruises from earlier.

"Oh Milo" she says. She doesn't look too excited to see him but she doesn't look like she didn't want to see him either.

How do they even know each other? "I need to talk to you in private." Milo says glancing at me.

I raise my eyebrow. "Its about Cedric" he says trying to justify himself. I'm so tired of hearing about Cedric. She nods and invites him to her office.

Ava

"I haven't seen or heard from you in a month" he says. "Milo we've never been the people to talk to each other as if we were friends" I tell him leaning back on my desk.

He approaches me and puts his hand on my jaw. "Remember the last time we made love on this desk?" He asks attempting to kiss me.

I move my face back. We agreed to not make anything personal years ago. Plus I'm not comfortable doing anything with him while my daughter in the next room.

"So Cedric's right!" I have no more respect for Cedric. "About?" "He says you've been fucking your secret husband" he says putting his hand around neck.

I grab his arm. "Milo stop!" "Cause he's out there?" he spits.

"My daughter is 20 feet away. Milo get the hell off me!" I nearly yell at him.

He backs away. "You have an hour to meet me at my house or I'm telling everything. Your dad abusing you, your fake marriage, you running your company... everything!"

"Why?" I ask him. I've done nothing to him or Cedric. Who is he to expose me for anything?

"Just do as I say." He says before walking out. What the hell?

Milo and I have been using each other as stress relivers. Cedric introduced him to me when I was pregnant.

We both agreed this thing we had going on was just for fun. I have never seen him or Cedric behave the way they have today.

I don't know why they are acting like this. All I know was that I have to be there.

"What was that about?" Jaxson asks coming inside my office. "Um Cedric is having some problems. I can't really talk about it its not my bussiness to tell. But I have to go meet him real quick is Bella fine here with you?"

I lie so easily to him it scares me. He nods "are you okay you look kinda shooken up" "It was a lot of information to take in, that's all" I tell him. "Okay, well drive safe" I nod "the food is on the stove"
