If I had

If I had a silver piece for ever tear I cried in your name,

Well, I’d melt it to make a shield

But nothing could ever quite keep you out

Perhaps I’d make Knights armor,

to secure myself from your hurt and blame.

If I had a golden doubloon, for every kind word you said

I’d melt it, for these were rare, down to an elegant ring

I’d have a jeweler carve those words,

And a heart along the inside

So that, when  I wore it,

I’d have, touch, see, happier times

If I had a diamond, the carats amounting to each sob

I’d keep it for myself, place it in a safe

So that such an object of chaos, would never escape

Maybe I’d put it on that gold ring

Place it on my ring finger

You know that one?

So that we’d be eternally bound

In disloyalty and in gain

What if my teardrops pooled together?

Maybe I’d have a full swimming pool of sorrow

Either so I could always be coated in pain

And feel you gently caressing my name

Maybe I’d just drown myself

Yeah… that’s always an option
