Heath
I don’t know what even happened. I was strolling across the lawn taking in the surroundings. The lawn, the mob of students spreading across the grounds and the noise of the first bell, which only had one meaning – get your damn asses into class.
I wasn’t even paying attention to where I was going until my slammed into someone. A girl. A pure innocent girl, I feel like such an idiot. I did nothing about it, which makes it worse. I just stood there staring down at the small little frame of a girl. Her eyes were so wide, she looked terrified.
I’m used to it though; I give most people that first impression. But she looked so small and I couldn’t even say a word. In her eyes I probably looked like a tough football player, and was going to clock her one for being in my way.
Then she raised her hand. To hit me? It looked like it, not like it would have bothered me, such a diminutive girl isn’t going to hurt me. Just before she was about to strike, a boy roughly around my age shoved her out of my reach. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed, I wanted to see what she had in her, but he had to spoil it.
I was about to react a tell him to back off, but just walked away. The last thing I saw from them was her, dig her nail into his chest and lean in to get into his face, and I entered the building.
It was weird, like really weird. There were lockers everywhere and students rushing around getting to classes. Then suddenly the bell rang and everyone cleared out the corridors and it was silent. No one in sight , except the occasionally late person.
Then I saw her at the end of the corridor, and this time I really saw her. But this time she was alone. I started to walk towards her when a fast black blur whizzed past me into the lockers leaving a dent. Before I saw what it was it grabbed my shoulders and leaned in next to my ear.
“Hello sunshine” she purred into my ear, her cold breath touching my neck. “You look lost”
I turned round in a quick motion and pushed her up against the lockers. There was a clatter and then she froze still. I smiled and bent down so our eyes were in line. “I know perfectly well what you are and why you’re talking to me so back off”
“Ooh, he is a big boy, knows his stuff” she struts around me in her high studded boots which with a swift kick could pierce the skin. Then stopped behind me and ran one of her long black nails across the top of my back. “If you know why aren’t you scared?” She paused and spun me to face her. Leaning into my face, she whispered in a low, sexy voice. “Maybe its because you have the hots for girls that kill. Maybe it’s because you know I will do anything for someone…” she trailed off and darted a death glare over my shoulder.
I rotated my head to catch a glimpse of the girl I ran over earlier. She was wearing black Uggs over her skinny jeans. My eyes trailed up her body wear she was wear a cream button up coat, the edges trimmed with black fur. The girl was avoided eye contact with the girl gripping the hem of my shirt, until she let out a growl. The small girls eyes darted up, with fire in her eyes and came strolling up to us. She looked like she was trying to keep her cool. How did I notice? Her fists clenched and her jaw set in a stiff position.
When I first saw her I was looking forward to the strike, but now she has a look in her eyes that she isn’t in control anymore. My shirt came loose of the grip and I backed away as she stalked towards the little girl.
“Well, well Olive Michaelson, you came back. But why? I thought I got you gone for good” she sneered, leaning against a locker.
Olive, so that is her name.
“And I never knew you were enrolling in school. There are always surprises” Olive gave a small smile, but she looked scared and her left foot was shaking. Then she added “You never change. You still using people or have you been freed yet” her smile expanded.
Wait. What? Freed? This is so confusing.
“Olli, don’t you understand anything” she stretched her arms in front of her and cracked her knuckles unpleasantly. I don't think even I can do it that loud...I'd consider doing it except I would come off a little weird and the one thing I'd learnt in Kindergarten...NEVER show your true colours or weaknesses. Be the hot stud.
“I perfectly understand” Olive retorted.
“Crap” I muttered. Oh shit, why did I have to say that. Damn. They forgot I was here.
Both the girls turned to me, but Olive somehow looked innocent and sweet again. She shifted her gaze from me to down the hall. I caught her gaze again and turned. That guy. The same one that saved me from her blow earlier. He had a funny look on his face and cocked an eyebrow at Olive. She gave an effortless shrug at him a raced down the corridor to him and the walked out of sight. Before he left he gave her a burning glare, which I’m sure she felt it burn into her because she flinched.
“So, where were we” she twisted awkwardly and met my gaze.
“Erm, I got to, I got to go” I stammered and turned on my heel. The blur overtook me and stopped in front of me.
“You’re not going anywhere sunshine” she gave a sly grin.
“Yes I am” I shoved past her and sprinted towards the entrance doors. I expected her to follow me, but instead she stayed motionless in the hallway with a smile. This smile sent a shiver down my spine and I knew that wasn’t the last ill see of this chic.

“Arggh” Olive groaned, pacing back and forth on the freshly-cut school lawn. The scent was so strong, it was intoxicating. I had to hold down my gagging.
“Look Ridley will always be Ridley you can’t do anything about it and neither can I” he said attempting to settle her down. She collapsed onto the damp grass clearly ignoring the toxic scent swirling into her nostrils. Ridley I thought so that’s her name. She is hot. Wait what am I thinking she is a Goth weirdo? There is something wrong with my head. I blinked away my thoughts and returned my attention back to Olive and her ‘boyfriend’. Yes, I know, it is bad to make assumptions about people you don’t know but they are so close. I even heard him call her ‘baby’.
“I know she will always be the same but I hate how she controls me” she kicked a tree and bits of bark smashed and collapsed onto the grass.
“Olive you need to calm down your going to draw attention if your hair…” he trailed off and his eyes flickered to me. I froze. All my muscles went stiff I could move, to run. They were psychopaths; clearly she must have smashed her head on the tree as well.
His eyes became wide and I catch a glimpse of their blinding colour of turquoise. They were beautiful. Okay, I take that made me sound gay, I take that back. They are weird.
“We have company” he mumbled flatly, his eyes still glued on me.
Olive shot a look at me and just turned back around, flung her bag over her shoulder and fumbled for the guy’s sleeve. I blinked and they were gone.
Something scarlet glimmered on the grass where they had been. I glanced around the area uneasy, before deciding it was safe to come out. I kept a slow pace towards the shining article, until it was below my sneaker and I bent to pick it up.
It glowed once and I was gone.
