Backstory Rapunzel was born to King Fredric and Queen Ariana of Corona. She was born with the power of the sundrop that gave her the ability to heal others with her hair just by singing a special incantation. Mere hours after her birth she was kidnapped by Mother Gothel, a witch who had been using the sundrop's power to keep herself young for hundreds of years. Rapunzel was kept hidden in a tower, believing Gothel to be her biological mother for 18 years until a thief calling himself Flynn Ryder came upon her tower by coincidence. Rapunzel had longed to leave the tower for years and see the floating lights that appear every year on her birthday in person. She made a deal with Flynn Ryder and the two set off to see the floating lights. Along the way she fell in love with him, and he revealed that his real name was Eugene. Eventually Rapunzel's dream to see the floating lanterns came true, but not without obstacles. She eventually figured out that Mother Gothel had lied to her for her whole life and that she was the lost Princess of Corona. Later, Mother Gothel stabs Eugene, who had come to rescue Rapunzel after realizing Gothel's true intentions, to death but not before he cuts Rapunzel's hair, which ends up killing Gothel. Rapunzel realized she had lost her healing powers now that her hair was cut and mourns the death of her love. As she cries over his dead body, her tears revive him. She is then reunited with her parents in the palace of Corona and begins her life anew.
