A soft breeze snatched the orange leaves that were hanging loosely on the tree making it flutter down, covering the earth with a golden blanket of leaves. Picking up one of those leaves from the ground, Hana gazed at the memento of her past while the giggles of her childhood resonated on the back of her mind.
"Gonju..." He giggled giving her a toothless grin as he chased her all around the park with a hand full of dead leaves from the ground to throw at her.
Taking an equal amount of leaves but mixing some pebbles among them, Hana would charge upon him as well.
Even when she recalled their childhood, she could perceive how she was always inconsiderate towards him. She would never once ceased to think about her actions and its consequence. How her little tricks could end up hurting him for real. While on the other hand, despite getting hurt by her, he would always be careful not to hit her hard by accident.
While she used to exert full of her strength, he would throw soft cotton-like punches and let her win every time in the end.
He was always the one receiving pain with a big smile on his face.
"Even stone feels cotton and the death would feel sweet if it meant receiving them from your hands," He would proclaim those words with his arms widespread, his eyes twinkling his sincerity.
He often used to surprise her with his affection, making her wonder if it was really possible to love someone the way he loved her. One word against her and he would bring hell for the person who dared to commit the offense.
She was his world but sadly he was just a friend for her.
"Autumn teaches us how beautiful it can be to let go of things" Misty's tender voice brought her back from her trance.
Shifting her gaze towards Misty, Hana gave her a welcoming smile but remained quiet allowing her to express her thoughts.
"With time everything eventually falls apart. After all, nothing lasts forever" she picked up a leaf from the ground as well and resumed "Even the leaf which existed solely for the tree, parts away after it fulfills its destiny."
Misty looked up to the tree which had lost almost all of its leaves, looking gloomy and bare" For some period of times, the tree looks dead, as though it has lost its purpose but eventually, season changes and new leaves grow and the tree gain back its glory"
Looking back at Hana who was lost in her words, she gives a reassuring smile" Our life is the same Hana"
Letting out a soft humorless chuckle, Hana nodded her head and expressed " I wish my mind would soak it in" she paused to gulp back her tears.
"Unfortunately, it doesn't" despite her strong attempts, the tears managed to fill her eyes but she refused to shed them.
"It was never your fault" Misty was quick to defend her stepping forward to hold her shoulders.
"And you and I both know, this is a lie cause the letter said something else.." after that the words got blocked on her throat and she could no longer utter anything.
A burning sensation filled her lungs leaving her breathless however gathering all of her strength, Hana managed to give Misty a sorrowful smile.
Misty shook her head and pulled Hana to cradle her against her chest.
"No, you did everything you could for him," she fondled Hana's hair trying to remain emotionally firm.
"We did everything we could for him" she whispered as Hana broke down frantically, clutching her coat.
