Third Person POV:

Tony was never one for physical contact.

Hugging, kissing, really any form of affection, was not his expertise.

His affection was usually limited to giving Pepper a kiss or jokingly hugging Rhodey and Happy.

That was usually it.

That is, until he met a certain Spider-Baby.

It didn't take long of getting to know the kid before he started to show affection towards the child.

It started with laying a reassuring hand on Peter's shoulder, playing off a hug that he secretly enjoyed, and eventually pulling Peter into a side hug.

Once Peter started hanging around the tower and compound more though, Tony's affection for the kid really came out.

It started when Peter accidentally fell asleep in the lab.  Tony and Peter had been working on upgrades for Peter's suit and had lost track of time.

Tony was looking at a blueprint he had made for Peter's mask when he felt something fall onto his arm, which had been lying on the desk.

It startled him a bit.  He quickly looked down to see what it was, only to find a sleeping Peter.

Tony had wondered why the kid had suddenly become so quiet for the last ten or so minutes.  Turns out the poor kid was fighting sleep.

Tony's emotions turned from startled to scared.  He didn't know what to do with Peter now.

Should he carry the kid up to a bedroom and let May know that he would be staying the night?  It was Friday so it's not like Peter had school the next day.

Or should he carry him to one of his cars and drive the exhausted kid home?

Tony felt Peter burrow his head closer to his chest.  The kid let an incoherent sound out of his mouth before settling back down.

Tony couldn't help but coo at the sight.

This kid was too precious.

Tony decided to call May and see if it was okay for Peter to stay the night.

"Hey F.R.I. call May Parker."

"Yes sir." the AI answered.

"Hello?" the soft voice of May asked.

"Hey May, it's Tony.  Peter's fallen asleep so I was wondering if he could just stay here tonight?  I'll drive him back to your apartment tomorrow."

"Okay," May says, exhaustion clear in her voice.  "I trust you to watch over him Tony."

"I will, you don't have to worry about a thing."

"Night Tony." May practically yawns out.

"Goodnight May."

With that Tony tells F.R.I.D.A.Y. to end the call and he returns his full attention back to Peter.  Who hadn't moved a muscle during the phone call.

"Well Pete, this is no comfortable place to sleep." Tony quietly says.  Not getting a response from the child.

He carefully untangles the kid from his chest and proceeds to carefully pick him up.  Trying not to jostle the kid too much.

Luckily, the little Spider-Ling stays asleep and Tony is able to take him to one of the guest rooms in the penthouse.

Tony makes a mental note to make it more Peter Parker friendly.  Legos and Star Wars posters would definitely do the trick.

He lays Peter onto the bed and tucks him in.  He puts another blanket over the kid, just to be sure he was warm enough.  Knowing the poor kid couldn't thermoregulate.

When he was satisfied with the results, he took a step back to look at his comfy handiwork.

Peter was now all bundled up and warm, like an infant.

In this moment, Tony really saw how young the child was.

You'd never guess that he was the same red and blue clad superhero of New York City.  You'd never guess he was Spider-Man.

With a quick "night Pete," Tony left the room.  Quietly shutting the door behind him as to not wake the Spider-Kid with super hearing.  Even though Peter had, at this point, slept through a phone call and being carried to the room.

Tony was going to go back to his lab, but decided against it.  Instead going to the penthouse's huge living room to watch some tv.

He could be closer to the kid this way if something were to happen.

Him?

Protective?

Never.

It's definitely not paternal instincts.

He was just fulfilling his promise to May of watching over Peter.

Tony turned on the gigantic tv, but barely had the volume on as to not wake a certain Spider-Baby.  Yes, he was still being cautious.

He decided to watch some Brooklyn Nine Nine.  That was one of the shows Peter had gotten him into.

Tony had watched about four episodes and had started dosing off, but something startled him back to full consciousness.

Peter, who was still half asleep, had walked into the room and sat down beside Tony.  The kid brought his legs up onto the couch and proceeded to burrow into Tony's side.

"Ms'r S'ark y'ur w'rm," the kid mumbled into Tony's side, barely conscious.

"Well I'm happy to lend you some body heat kid." Tony can't help but softly chuckle.

Tony decided to turn the tv off so that it wouldn't disturb Peter's heightened senses.  Yet again being cautious.  The kid deserved a good night's sleep after how hard he worked today.

Peter burrowed more into Tony until they ended up with most of Tony's body laying across the couch cushions and his back supported by numerous pillows.  Peter laid on top of him with his head comfortably on Tony's chest.  (A/N: Like the picture at the beginning.)

Tony put his arms over the kid's back and hugged him close.  He couldn't help it.

Yes it was true, the great Tony Stark was never one for physical contact.  But when his Spider-Baby wants a hug, or some other kind of comforting and caring contact, then he would gladly give him some.

Anything for his kid.

Anything for his son.

And that's how they stayed the whole night.

When Pepper found them in the morning and told F.R.I.D.A.Y. to take a picture, well, they didn't need to know that.
